Raz...man, it's not in everyones' personality to just get rippin mad and then try to sue. Tell me you don't get pissed about seeing class action suits against McD's because fat people can't control their eating habits. Obviously, this is a different situation and Mazda is at fault. However, a lawsuit further decreases the value of the auto and would jeopardize future MS cars, wouldn't it? I dunno, if it came down to it, I would take them to court, but after 6 months, I can still wait a little, because I still love my car. I will, however, contact my dealership today or tomorrow reagrding my issues. The owner is a good friend of the president of MUSA, apparently. I'm still depressed that I have to deal with these issues, and that others on here think the car is crap because of that, but I'll get over it. Like AGR...I love my MSP!

yea good idea man **** im should just get a vw 25th anniversary 1.8t. that is all done up and quick too. hmm..............now i have to test drive like 5 cars dammit.
 
FYI a simple boost controller and a msp willl spank a Spec V with those mods

thats a big negative buddy.. I just watched a Spec V at 171WHP (Header, full exhaust w/no cats, and intake) on 17's beat a 2k3 MSP at 9PSI all night..Just isn't as fast as the Spec V..period.

Are these numbers guesses or are they dyno tested? and what does MBC stand for? I'm not to good with acronyms. I'm in debate over buying a 2003.5 Laser Blue MSP.
 
Numbers are approximations, but they're right around what's been found on dynos. Search around here. MBC = Manual boost controller. It's a wicked cheap way to raise your boost (~40$). Freeing up the intake can cost 25$-220$ with varying results, but at 220$ you get at least 10whp.

We're dynoing stock at 150whp and 155 ft/lbs at ~6-7psi. Add 10whp for the intake. 160whp 165 ft/lbs. Now..as a rule of thumb you add 7-10whp per psi. that's anywhere from 21whp-40whp. You'll probably get 30whp as a fair estimate. There's 190whp (and more torque too) for under 300$. Exhaust will be expensive if you go turbo back...but you stand to gain up to 30whp from that according to some reports, and it may be possible considering the screwed up system on there now. boom...210-220whp for between 1000$-1300$. Of course, some of these companies are releasing catbacks w/ gain of around 5-10whp. Don't know how...but they're claiming it, so it *might* be true. That'll cost significantly less than a full turbo back (hence the estimate of 1000$) Toss on the s-afc II for fuel managment (if it'll work) and you'll be able to extract all the power you can from it.

And McHaggo...who the hell was driving the MSP? He should have taken the spec V, no joke...unless he's got mad hesitation. If he's just running 9 psi w/o any other mods, he's done though (as hesitation probably pwns him). He's gonna need to free up the intake flow at the very least, especially running 9 psi. That damn snorkel and box the way they are aren't gonna get him enough air flow...maybe w/ a K&N panel he'd be alright. Also...was it a close race? If it was then that alone justifies the point. 40$ for one mod versus quite a bit more for the Spec's mods.

my friend beat a msp in his 5.0. its mostly a stock 5.0 its an older one like the convertabile boxy type. he said he spank him by like a whole second in the 1/4. he said afterwards the kid was all mad in the msp and said he shouldnt have lost that he is supposed to be running 13's? i dont knwo abotu that.

The kid he beat was a moron...13's in the 1320 ha! Actually...older 5.0s should be a close match in 0-60 and 1320. It all comes down to the driver, especially at the track...if you've never been there before or don't have much experience w/ your car a freakin saturn might beat you. Check this link for what should have happened.

As for the wee-dub...if that's your thing go ahead. But almost every driver I see in a wee is driving like a complete moron. I also don't like the style of it, but to each his/her own.

Alot of people come to these boards, look for kills nad form a BS street race story deduce that there car stacks up to another. Never works that way. Outside of knowing the 2 drivers are competent and in good comand of there cars and have every intent on a full out race, a street race of any kind yeilds no comapision. Th eonly thing that racing being at a track mean is you knwo the drivers bith want to race full out (most of the time). However, with drivers always being a variable, a drag race even at a track often yeilds no comparision.
 
what does yield a comparrisson then? Just curious.... seems like you;ve ruled out all the likely answers. I guess you like to magazine race?
 
No...what he's saying is that there is no comparison unless it's the same driver in the same conditions at the same track; A controlled experiment. Pretty much he's right, there.
 
It all has to be taken into consideration but the best way to compare is get a good ide form as many people as possible of what times they run. For example the MSP seems to ahve the potential to be about 15.1-14.8 all but stock. I got that from reading alot of post and discarding the BS. I still could be wrong, I know that.
THis way when ou see a 16.2, you know the driver sucked or something was wrong or if you see a 14.0 the guy is lying or the car is modded.

Servo pointed out, a controlled expeirment. Only that is scientific which mean you have to have only one variable. The car is the variable and in a drag race there are too many variable so I go by gathered and proved statistics.
 
So whats the point in racing??!?! Acording to you nobody can ever get bragging rights unless its over themselves in another car?? thats fuct!
 
Chill man...the point in racing is to prove that you're a better driver than the other guy, not that your car is better...that's just a pissing contest. This my car is better than your car crap is ridiculous. The only way to directly compare cars is using statistics from dynos, and using HP-weight ratios, gearing ratios, etc. Go dyhno race some one one if you want to know whose car is better.

If you beat some guy in a street race (stop street racing :D) or on the track, then YOU beat him. You were the better driver, whether his car out matches yours or not...it's still not fair because of what you have to work with, but his r/t, 60' times, etc compared to his car may be good. The best comparo is betweeen similar cars, then it's just driver to driver. That's how it should be...
 
You can brag all you want.
It depends, you will find those that are more mature and into racing brag about there times, not about the person next to them. Unless these people are in closely competing cars and are each known good drivers, what is there to brag about?
Lets have eamples:

1. You beat and EVO becuase he missed a shift.
Does this give you right to brag? No, you did nothing impressive, he ****** up.

2. You beat a carrolla.
So you have a faster car.

3. You beat and integra type R witha known good driver and the guy gives you props as he did his best.
Yes, you have cause to be proud, you beat a good drive in a closely matched car.

4. You beat a WS6 you have know idea if it was even trying to race you.
Do you brag?

listen, i dont know if you think this is the Phantom Menace or something, but something's not getting through to you. The guy looked at me, he wanted to race, he revv'd and he spun the ******* tires as was stated yesterday. he didnt have traction and i beat a WS6. do i have to shoot you with the death star to get this through to you?
