what should i buy?

:) Agreed. Watch the smilies!

Honestly, though - I have none of the issues that most are complaining about so far. I wonder if it has ANYTHING to do with following the manufacturer's recommendations, allowing sufficient break-in time, and not changing every friggin' component under the hood?? ;)

My only service dept. visit has been for an oil change. Nothing else to report.
Brotha I HOPE IT STAYS THAT WAY!

I don't want to see people going through the s*** they are with these cars, THERE IS NO REASON FOR IT.
I wish I had atleast known about the clunk ahead of time. But we had no priar knowledge to draw from at the time.

If the car was simply more cosistant it would be great and I would have bought one. However I don't feel like possibly playing a loosing came of roulette when buying a car.

ok you dont know what you are talking about. take this from a former gts owner. that car has good aftermarket but it is very unreliable. i had that in the shop one day after i bought it. it had 6000 miles on it used. i had a blown engine and trans first day. it was in the shop for 3 months then i go to get it back only to find out the new engine with about 2 miles on it just blew when the mechanic brought it out to test drive. those engines are too high compression to be reliable. they are really weak. that is why toyota changed the redline from 8200 rpm to 7800. they new the blown engines were becoming a problem. not to mention of problems i had like all my bulbs blowing out in the headlights with only like 10000miles on my car. um......engine noise that was soo annoying. alternator, both headlight housings were replaced cause they kept fogging up and blowing my bulbs cuase the seals were bad. cel light always came on. noises in the interior around the sunroof were annoying. and the service was just piss poor. they suck take it from a owner of not one but two 2000 gts' i had the auto then the 6spd. on yeah and the toyota paint sucks i had my car repainted twice for rock chips. i had the first car for about 22,xxx miles then i traded it in for the 6spd who came to its death by two drunks with 12,000 miles on it.

I'm beggining to love you :D.
Nice to see someone else that can be TOTALY honest about a car and can speak from experience instead of from Car and Driver test reports.

I am 100% with 1st on this one. I feel like we are living the same life in different places when it comes to our car. When I call my dealer every 3 months when I get those reminder things (that are eerily accurate on estimating your mileage:) ) they answer the phone and when I tell them who it is they say, "Oh, Hey, how are you. I guess you need some new bushings again; maybe your seat brackets need replacing again; and while we're at it I guess you're going to give us some Mobil1 and filter to throw on there too. We know you'd do it yourself, but for $15 its worth your time. Bring it on in."
I think one mechanic truely hates my car because he's been on a mission to try and fix it for me since the first time I brought it in.

All you MSP guys don't realize how long this clunk thing has been an issue. My car is now almost 2yrs old (MP3) and its worse than ever. 3 swaybars, endlinks etc + countless bushings. Still no end in sight. That Sept. thing is BS. I'll believe it when I see it. And 1st is completely correct, in that as soon as you hear the first sound from the clunk, that expensive suspension is not doing what its capable, and supposed to be doing.
Get a GTI 1.8T and make sure the coil packs have been updated and window regulators as well. Beyond that, you should have no problem, and really enjoy your car (you might need to add suspension though)

I beg to differ. I'd say that I drive like a total panzy because I'm always babying it. Maybe its because I'm not a kid, or maybe its because I'm responsible, or maybe its because I'm trying not to break anything else on it...take your pick.

i drive well, but at times i can beat the s*** outta my p5...damn i dont have problems though...guess you shouldnt buy a car and attempt to use its potential

lol, yeah Razor, I can't imagine if I ever wanted to actually do what the car wanted to/ was (half-heartedly) designed to do...then I'd be in REAL trouble... :)

LMAO. Really I don't understand it. I've got one of the first MSP's and the only thing that has gone wrong is the clunk, and a leaking radiator hose.

s*** who cares about those minor things...the cars almost a year old by god, dont you know its DUE to start messing up by now...jeeZ

meanwhile, i had my piece of s*** sunfire for 3 years with not one, not one, i say again: NOT ONE problem...and the car is poorly built, and i drove it like it was a ferrari (without the speed or handling or quality of course) because i didnt give a **** about it...yet it submitted to 57k miles of rough driving, with oil changes every 7k miles on the cheap s*** from walmart, with two dumb people driving into me causing 7500 total damages to the car...yet no problems...none. so tell me how my car was inches away from being totaled, with all the above mentioned stuff on less than adequete design in a cheap car, yet had less problems than your "godly" car.

Thats cool, Kenetix, constanly smokes blunts (rofl)

TOO EASY DRILL SERGEANT!

On a serious note, Kenetix, keep in mind you are deeling with FEW of the factory equipment casuing issues including the ECU.

Also I never said all MSPs have these problems, infact I have stated the opposite often. Its just not a role I am willing to take.

Ok...damn...you guys are less like disappointed parents and more like mean-ass-kicking step-dads...sheesh! :D

1st...all valid points. However...look at it from my perspective. I am treating it as the problems with *my* car and no one elses. Compared to the 2.5rs and the rsx-s that I was looking at I think I did better. As I've said before, the car feels like an old friend.

The bushings and crap I can get replaced... guess it is a bigger issue than I thought. Damn...I bet I'd do better at auto-x when I get them fixed! =O) As for the hesitation..hell...I don't know what Mazda's doing. I keep holding off on Joe's kits because I'm hopeful. It's sad really, that I'm generally a pessimist, and I'm hopeful and optimistic w/ the car...but it's all I can do for now...well, that and hold Mazda to their lies/promises. Maybe a class action suit is the way to go, but on what grounds? t3ase has grounds, but I haven't had time to go to my dealer once for these issues, much less three times. Ok well...now I'm getting depressed.

UNfortunitly you are at your dealers mercy to get the bushings replaced Many MP3 owners have been dinied that now.

Any time your car has a problem that lowers the resale value or can be a safety concern then you have ground for lemon law and a law suit if it is not honored.

i dont think people understand that the msp is not being knocked, nor are the people without problems, nor are people with problems who are willing to admit mazda are being dicks...the people being knocked are the people refusing to admit they have a problem with their car not working perfectly or close to it for a brand new car...the car is gorgeous, it handles well, et etc, its a great car, if it would work properelly for everyone....every brand and type of car is gonna have its problem cars, but just think , out of all the msps, how many people are actually registered here on this board..say 50% or so...now how many people registerred have at least ONE of the problems? prolly abouyt 75 or more percent...now how many of those admit that there is a problem and are highly pissed (not just like, well mazda should fix this problem)? prolly about 10 percent. take 1st's advice and start a thread about filing a class action lawsuit...
