We are going to start the actual design process of the MAM kit very soon. We have a basic idea of what we want to do with the manifold but want some input. Bullhorn (sleeper style for protege) or Thumper style? Both are made with thickwall stainless steel, 4-1 pyramid collector and ceramic coated.

Sleeper Bullhorn

I personally like the sleeper better and to me it looks a lot cleaner.... the thumper well it looks more like a cluster F%$@ to me.

wow thats gorgeous.
i like them both but i think the sleeper looks a little better.
The thumper looks more impressive cause its looks so messy.
hmm i vote Bullhorn.

I've always been a fan of the thumper, but i voted for the sleeper cuz thats the one i have :)

It seems like the thumper style is better suited for a bigger turbo and high hp numbers, but I love the look of the sleeper. I vote sleeper!

but you should go for the numbers. not the look
also think about the clearance etc...

Also in the 3 you aren't really going to see the manifold as much since it is rear mounted correct?

well i didnt know if there was a performance cost.
I arther have performance than looks. So if it allows bigger numbers then i rather go with the Thumper manifold.
Phil, cmon - you got to present all the facts... and you are getting paid for this????

i went with the thumper-style. it's cooler to look at.

and if it offers better performance, more reason to use it.

Actually, one manifold will not outperform the other in this situation. The thumper is different from the sleeper in the proteges to mount the different sized turbos (t2 for sleeper, t3 for thumper). Thats why the thumper manifold SEEMS to outperform the sleeper, because its matched to the larger turbo.

And Jeph, the manifold will be seen :)

Who cares, it will still be slower than my car.

I say sleeper style.

I am very anxious to get on this one. I want to see what the car can do, Phil.

keep voting kids! Looks even here, thumper is winning on mazda3forums.com though. get your votes in before we start building the mani!!!

I haven't seen the dimensions, but the manifold style doesn't determine the turbo size, correct?
correct. Beau kinda explained it to me, but we just finished a 14 hour day and its 5 am so(coffee)

Haha, get back to work!!
I'm sure it will be seen, but i was just saying that it is rear mounted so you don't see wuite as much of it as you do with the protege manifolds.

I would say the thumper style, mainly because there are only a few of us that have the bullhorn style and I dont want anyone else to have one lol

the 3 has alot of potential, I would say stick a GT30 on the thumper style just because it can handle it :)
