Hi-I'm new to the Mazda world. I am looking for a Touring for my wife (to replace a Passat wagon)and live in CT. Any idea what kind of discount I can expect off MSRP? I saw on Edmunds that there is $1500 cash back and 0% financing available. Any help would be appreciated!!

Your other option is $4000 dealer cash back. You can probably get all the holdback too (worth $750 or so depending on the MSRP of the one you are considering). If you owned a mazda, which it appears you do not, you could get another $1000. These would all be off invoice.

17% off MSRP is a pretty realistic target on a fairly loaded up GT.

Thanks for the info Nuzy. I was aware of the $1500 cash back but not the $4000 dealer cash back. Is this money from Mazda to the dealer or from dealer to buyer? Would this also apply if I decide to lease? I am going to my local dealer this week to see what they can offer.

Hello everyone,

Just purchased a new Touring for my wife. We traded her 2003 Jeep Wrangler Sport for it. Here is the breakdown of what I paid:

2009 Cx-9 Touring AWD blue w/ sand leather, MSRP $36,125 (moonroof/bose, roof rack, wheel locks)

$29,999 (after dealer discount/rebate & mazda loyaty rebate)
$7,000 (trade-in for Jeep)
$22,999 (total price)

The dealer then actually increased my price to $30,499 on my purchase price but also increased the value of the trade-in to $7,500, which was better for me b/c I paid taxes on $500 less, so in the end, I did very well.

Good luck, but there are good deals to be had out there, except, in July they were slightly better, but trade-in values were not as high, so it all works out in the end.

Price w/o trade in, financing, etc.

Forums like these are great for getting intelligence on pricing but there multitude of factors in each deal make comparisons difficult. Maybe the dealer comes down $500 on the sale price but makes it back up in trade-in value or in the financing. I am looking to pay cash for the full value of the car with no trade-in. Please share any thoughts on this pricing from a dealer:

2009 Touring AWD, Copper Red, Moonroof/Bose package, Back-up Camera/mirror package, Roof Rails: $34,700-$4,000 dealer cash.

I think I can do a bit better based on what I see on this site but I can't be sure. Many are reporting similar cars with prices around $29K but trade-ins and/or financing may be impacting those prices. I'm also not clear how the dealer cash would impact prices I find on Edmunds TMV or Truecar. If I subtract the $4K from their numbers I would be comfortably under $30K.

The dealer also talks about dealer cash ending 8/31. I know that's what Mazda is saying but I can't imagine the incentive going away as the 2010s begin to arrive. Logic would tell me that those 2009s that remain in inventory would get the same incentive if not more in September.
