What is the resistance of a solenoid? Are they all the same? VICS and PRC Solenoids

I currently am trying to ohm out my solenoids (VICS, VTCS, PRC). What should the resistance reading be of these? Are all automotive solenoid resistance relatively the same or do they vary? Are some solenoid normally open, which in turn reads no continuity when disconnected from the circuit? Or should all solenoids show continuity even when removed from the circuit?

A solenoid is a coil of wire which, when energized, creates a magnetic field which pushes (or pulls) a rod in a linear fashion.

So, the coil would have a resistance (if meter shows 'open' circuit = bad).

You can probably test it by removing it and jumper it with a 9volt battery (or jumper wire to the car battery) and listen/watch for movement.
