What have you done to your P5 today?

yea
and anyone remember what size the manual tranny drain plug and fill up nut sizes are?

might change the gear oil tomorrow

H7 for low beam.

But Scratch, your car deserves so much better than a plug and play kit, go retrofit or go home!

It will be eventually...I have a friend that has an HID kit for me, I gotta get this thing payed off before anything else major happens...I would hate to blow another motor and still be paying payments on it while it sits for months...

I have pretty much done everything I have to the car working 20 hours a week, and money isn't coming in these last few weeks like it had been...plus I have a $300 payment and insurance...plus gas and whatever leisure I want to do...

I feel ya. I'm saving up or my wedding, car payment, rent, and food. Yet my fianc still asks why we can't go out... Lol

Today I drove mine and am noticing more creaks, groans, and other noises. Bring on spring. I don't feel like working on it right now.

Finished up my OBX header and MP3 ECU swap the other night. Stupid exhaust manifold bolts caused a bit of a problem, but after I finally got that finished up I was getting a rattle at about 1500RPM, turns out a heat shield a little farther back came loose! :( Took forever to figure out what it was...

Overall, I'm happy with the gains from the two mods, my idle is still a bit funky from the ECU swap, but that should even out in a couple days! I can definitely feel a difference in the power-band.

Here are the eyelids, no putty used (I tried it and it was a huge PITA). Critique away:

Besides the chip on the left side of the top eyelid in the last picture, they don't look too bad.

Matt, you keep asking for opinions and then ignore them, you got more than enough advice about how to do them properly, for me they look like s*** and would be better left off. It's your car and if you are happy then put them on.

Pat.

I wasn't ignoring them, I tried the putty method and it didn't work so this is what I've got. I accept that you don't like it, thanks.

Please don't destroy your front stage by doing that. What you have now is perfect, just add more sound deadening!

Good to hear, I had been thinking of putting the JL's from the rear doors back there, but if you say don't, then I trust you...didn't know if it would make a difference or not, but I guess it would be a bad one...

which heat shield is it? i had the j-pipe heat shield fall off last year, and now there is another rattle under there.

It was the small heat shield just before the second cat.. I really need to get it up on a lift, so I can take a little better look at it... But for now, no rattle...

didnt work? i dont understand how it didnt work...

here is how you should have used the putty, sand your eyelids with some 220 grit (alot in your case since u caked the paint on there), make sure there clean and then mix up the putty, not sure of the exact mixing ratio but it says it on the container
then you take an aplicator, put it on the eyelid trying to get it as smooth as possible, let dry
once fully dry sand and if needed re apply to some small spots
once you finish that, then u prime them with 3 or more coats primer, sand that smooth
theeeeen you paint and clear

it takes a long time to get s*** to look perfect, it took me about 3 hours total to finish fixing my eyelids

Yeah dude they would sound like s*** since that tray would just rattle like hell, and you want to keep the sound coming from the front, like a concert.

You went active on the focals right? How do they sound now? Are you using any separate time alignment per driver?

Edit: Last night picked up a cherry picker and engine stand for my motor swap.

Yea, Focals are active...sound great...not sure what exactly separate time alignment is, so I would say probably not...

It is a processing section of the head unit or sound processor that allows you to delay the signal from each speaker by a certain period of time. This corrects for the different distances each speaker is from you so the sound hits you all at the same time.
