What exactly does the DSC do?

I know that it will help prevent wheel spin during take-offs and such, but does it do anything else? I read somewhere that it assists during braking and / or during hard turning to help keep the car stable. If so, does it brake individual wheels much like my old G35 did? Does anyone know the full extent of the DSC capabilities?

There is an extensive description in the 2007 Service Highlight manual, several pages. Yes it does do individual wheel braking.

The prevention of wheel spin TSC. The basic thing DSC does to is apply the brakes to the outside rear wheel when you start to skid. Right?

Here's my synopsis of the Service Highlights.

DSC is a steering safety system. It's activated in cornering when it determines a sudden change in vehicle attitude is causing sideslip because the car is at or close to an understeer or oversteer condition. It can inform the PCM to lower engine output, and/or have the DSC hydraulic unit apply more/less/maintain fluid pressure to each individual brake caliper piston to suppress the oversteer/understeer condition.

TCS is activated when it sees that the drive wheels are slipping, and can inform the PCM to lower engine output, and/or have the DSC HU apply more/less/maintain fluid pressure to each caliper piston to control the slipping drive wheel.

They work together and in conjunction with the ABS, and Electronic Brake Distrubution control, steering angle and wheel speed sensors to prevent wheel lockup, wheel spin, oversteer, understeer, and maintain steering ability by actuating torque reduction thru fuel cut and ignition timing, as well as turning on and off solenoids, pumps and valves providing individual brake control to maintain traction.

It's saved my butt several times, and makes driving tight canyons a BLAST!!

You are correct. but it also applies brakes to the inside just not as much. that way you dont end up on 2 wheels.

I used mine today...a guy cut me off doing 25, I was doing 50. The whole back end came loose as I cut into another lane. I was able to bring it back in line pretty quickly. The MS3 has got awesome brakes!
