What brand of engine oil do you use for your MSP?

Mobil 1 and a Fram filter. I use this combination in all my cars. Never had any problems with either. I have the miles to prove it.

The MSP needs full synthetic, not a blend or conventional oil. It comes from the factory with synthetic oil. If cost is a concern, go to WalMart and get their brand on full synthetic, its about $8.00 cheaper than a 5 gallon container of Mobil 1. ( its probably knock off Mobil 1)

With a new long block costing roughly $3400, its not wise to skimp and go the blend route.
Who told you the MSP comes with synthetic oil?

hate to tell u fram filters are s***... pureone is much better cost 3 dollars more but much better for ur oil and engine...

i think someon did a test of the 3 filters(fram, pureone and seomthingelse) and fram scored like 1/2 as good as the other 2...

I still use Fram because i change my oil like every 2000 miles anyway and the true grip thing is nice for getting them on and off. I will try the other one though if you think they are that much better.

Who told you that it didn't? Use whatever filter and oil you want. I don't give a **** one way or the other.

Bottom line is change it frequently and put on a fresh filter each time.

Short of buying a WIX, K&N, Mobil 1 filter etc, a filter is a filter. I don't care what some article says about a Fram. I never had an oil filtration problem by using Fram. If its good enough for John Force and his team, it works for me!

Nope, I am an Insurance Professional. What kind of oil do you think it came with. Do you have the supplemental Mazdaspeed manual? If so, you will see that it calls for synthetic oil.

No one told me, I read my manual. I hope that this answers your question.

I read the manual! Don't you? Read the part where it mentions oil requirements. Fram filters are not s***? I have one car with 199,000 miles on it and another with 191,000. Both were purchased brand new and I always use Fram filters.

What is so special about a Mazda OEM filter? Its made in Australia and no better than any other filter.

Running oil which is not intended for the car will cause damage.

Keep your hot air to yourself, "A"!
1. The manual doesn't say the car comes with synthetic oil. If you don't believe me, don't you think the dealer would make you pay for synthetic when you go to them for oil changes? They don't. This car isn't a Porsche that comes from the factory with Mobil 1.
2. Mazda filter? One less thing for Mazda to blame as I do my own oil changes.
3. Fram filters used to be good, but now there are better options out there. I have been to a few dealers that have displays with cross sections of OEM and Fram filters (my old Acura dealership had one), the Fram element is cheaper and smaller than the OEM.
4. Who says i'm not running the recommended oil? The manual states to use 5w30 or 10w30, whichever better suits your climate. Nowhere does it say only synthetic. I use 5w30 as i live in Canada, 5W30 is better for cold weather.
Have a nice day. (chair)

msp never came with syntetic......its only recommended for turbo cars to run syntetic cause it is harder to break down under extreme temperatures then conventional oil. but if you change your oil every 2k then you can use regular oil. i change mine every 3 month regardless of the mileage and i use syntetic...it just makes me feel better . Filter.....pureone is probably one of the best i know , i had it last time, now i use bosh...works fine so far.

2k more miles to go, and i can run AMSOIL! i have just been running valvoline. I dont particularly care what kind of oil it is if its not AMSOIL. I love that s***

I started out with Royal Purple, and regular purolator filters, but switched over to Mobil one and the Pure one filters once they came out. It's just easier to get this stuff...AMSOIL is way to expensive around here...I'd prefer to use it or Redline, but they're both tough to get a hold of in my area.
