What are your thoughts on your Injen intake...

I finally got a chance this weekend to install my new Injen intake and I gotta say, I think it's pretty sweet. It looks great, sounds badass, and I can feel the turbo spool up and respond much quicker. I still do notice the "stumble/hesitation" issue but I think once I get some miles through it, the computer may recalibrate itself.

What are everyone else's thoughts on the intake?

Ganja

It makes for one really high flow bong and you look just soo cool whilst you inhale your stink weed.
It's all polished and shine-a-licious.

I like it. Works good for me. I like the sound of it also when the turbo starts spoolin up.

I also installed mine this weekend. This is my first CAI and I must admit I was momentarily scared the first time I opened the throttle a little bit. WHOOOOOOOOOSH!!!! What can I say? It's a new experience for me. This thing is LOUD in combination with the axle-back exhaust. Not sure if that's good or bad

Regarding performance, I must admit the throttle response is a little better and acceleration feels much smoother throughout the band than before. Power increase? Not enough to justify the cost by itself, but it's all good :D

On a down note, the bypass valve noise is now a much more pronounced 'dying squirrel' sound :(

Peace...(hippy)

Can't get enough of that sound! For me though there is no such thing as the car being too loud when it comes to spooling, or BPV if you ask me though.

The only pronounced performance difference would seem to be at expressway speeds. 60-80 seems to be non-existant. 58,59, 60 -82! Huh? what happened? Besides that the performance difference seems to be very subtle.

I care about looks under the hood to a degree so it gets a (thumb) there also.

All in all I'm extremely please with the product.

And before anyone bashes me for purchasing it: I'm happy with it. It accomplished exactly what I wanted it to and actually exceded my expectations.

As a side note: Has anyone noticed the stumble reduce because of the Injen? I haven't had it bad since the install? Maybe because I reset the ECU? I seriously can't explain it but it's almost gone now.

I did not reset the ECU, and the hesitation/stumble is still there for me. I felt it really bad yesterday when I was testing my newly installed boost gauge. It went something like this:

1) Rolling at about 2500 RPM in 3rd.
2) Ease up to 3/4 throttle
3) CAI whooshing like mad...turbo spools up almost instantly
4) Maintain throttle position but it feels like I let off the gas around 4k RPM
5) 1-2 seconds later...WHAMMO...whiplash and pulling hard almost until redline

As I understand it, this has nothing to do with turbo lag which figures since the gauge was reading max PSI the whole time from almost the moment I stepped on the gas. Anyone else have a similar experience with the hesitation/stumble?

Mine came on the 27th and i installed on the 27th. I am very pleased with the difference the injen makes. Sure $250 is a bit pricey but its definately worth the cash IMO. My car runs smooth now with no or very discreate hesitation (rarely), and its very easy to feel the performance increase. There are only 2 things i dont like about it, one being the sound it makes (too loud and "ricey" for me, although phycologically louder engine noise = more power in my mind but i cant let that get to me :) ). The other thing i dislike is that the blow-off tube makes pretty hard contact with the primary part of the intake. Its basically being pushed up a bit and augmenting the tube. See attached pic... Im just worried that the intake and the blow-off tube will get too hot and the tube might melt on a long drive. I just would rather have them not touching.

This is SpicyMSP's car i believe, but you can see where it touches...

too loud and "ricey" for me

I can understand if you think it's too loud and you don't like the sound of the spooling and BPV but for god's sake WTF is gonna deemed ricey next? The sound of shifting gears? Wheel spin in 2nd gear? The hand brake sound?

Call me Ricey McGee because the BPV and Spool is sweet music to my ears(hear ya)

i think they should have try to relocate the coolant reservior w/out drilling a hole in it.. coz i dun have the equipments...:P now i gotta wait til my friend has time so i can do it at his house!!

All you need is a drill and bit for metal. The bit is fairly cheap and most people have a drill or can borrow one.

Damnit when the hell are they gponna send me my CAI.
Screw injen screw them to hell ....after i get my CAI.

good thing injen doesnt make anythign else i want to buy for the msp... i will never buy anything from them again. this experience has sucked major testicles
