Protege 5
I just went to my first Protege meet this Saturday in Ventura, California, and it was a lot of fun! Unfortunately, the turnout wasn't as high as it was supposed to be, but hey, it's quality that counts, not quantity. The cars weren't all fixed up, but everyone was so nice and we all got along really well. I have to say this meet was planned extremely well - great directions, Mazda givaways, loads of food, and we all even got personalized contact cards to exchange that had our email addresses and forum names on them so that we could keep in contact! Plus, it was at the beach!!!

The funny thing was that right when I got out of my car someone came up to me and said, "You're Dragonfly, huh?" Guess my avatar worked... hehe. Too bad I changed my avatar and can't find that file or the original picture anymore. :(

I took a bunch of pics and will post them soon. I don't know if anyone from our forum was actually there because it never came up in our conversations. You think it would have! I know that there were at least a couple from protegeclub.com, but I never check that place out. I like it too much in here! So did any of you guys go to this thing and I didn't even know it?

you went to the meet organized by Jerry(jstand6)? nice, how was it?

oh yeah, please post pics of the meet! :)

and please visit protegeclub once in a while too! it's a pretty good place, if you don't ask questions that gets the mods irritated ;)

Yeah, I went to Jerry's meet. He worked so hard to make this thing a success, but some of the people that actually RSVP'd didn't show up. It was a success anyway, but I felt bad that Jerry bought all this food that we were all supposed to pitch in for. He told us ahead of time that it would be 10 dollars for each carload of people - to pay for the park permit and the food, whcih is why we were supposed to let him know if we were going to make it. Since lots of people responded, Jerry bought enough food to feed an army, but because they didn't show up, he had to pocket a lot of the cost of this thing. I get so irritated by people who do that... why say you're going to be there if you aren't sure anyway, or if something comes up, at least call and let your host know. Enough griping...

Anyway, think I'm going to develop a few shots today at lunch, and then the other roll soon (it's not finished yet.) I'll post them tonight probably.

I'm glad you had a good time! I, personally, am at the beach every day. Arizona has endless beaches...just no ocean... :D

I never go the the beaches here in Cali... always to the ones on Oahu, where I grew up part-time. There's no comparisson! This was the first time in a couple of years that I ever hit sand locally. As a matter of fact, before this, I don't even remember the last time I put on a bikini! I didn't stay by the water too long since the meet was in a grassy area by the parking lot and I wanted to hang out with all the new people I met. I'm burned though! OUCH!:o <--- that's me - all red!

ahh yes, the wonderful meet blues...

every meet, you are bound to have a few people not show up. glad you guys had fun.

I know how you feel. I went to the Farmer's Market this weekend. I was only there for 30 minutes, but I toasted! I should know better than that!

I know that not everyone is going to be able to make it, but I think that they shouldn't have responded that they'd be there, knowing that Jerry was going to buy food for them. Jerry gave people his cell number, so they could have called to cancel if they were curteous enough to think of that. This wasn't your everyday car meet... they had food and freebies from Mazda - got a Mazda CD case and sports bottle for my bike, plus some stickers, etc. I love that stuff!:D

Oh, and they raffled off some shift knobs, short shifters, etc, from Kartboy Kustoms. I left before they did it, but the chances of winning something were pretty good!

Hmmmm...freebies are good! I'd love to go to a meet around here! I'm envious...

Here's a pic... It's not the best cause I took it from far away, and it was early so not everyone was there yet. My car is third from the left, but it looks black in the picture!

Oops! I'm such a dork... I forgot the picture! Hehe:p

Really wish you were there, Syz. I would have loved to meet you in person! That bumblebee was really nice. It has the Mazdaspeed exhaust on it, which, after seeing the other ones that people had on their P5's, I liked the best. If I can afford it, I hope to get it in the near future! If I'm not mistaken, someone else from AZ came down just for this meet!
