For 6,200 miles I didn't have one problem with the stereo. I thought I was a lucky one. Tonight, my sub goes out. Later on while driving to the bassless music, my headunit decides to close half way. I reset the headunit, it's fine now... but the sub, what a pain in the ass.

I'd be mad at the car, but it did me proud earlier tonight when I lined up with a red SRT-4. :D 3rd gear roll, got him by about 1 and 1/2 car lengths -- twice -- I was still pulling in 4th but had to get off. Brake boosting helps folks. Witnessed by 2 friends behind in an Evo VIII and a '04 WRX. The Evo didn't get to race the SRT, but the WRX did and lost by a car length. Ah well. It was good stuff.

My sub hasnt gone out yet and im approaching 6k miles...well i guess i can just hope it doesnt go out. Nice kill, what are your mods?

yep my sub/amp went whe i had about 500 miles on the car they replaced it but now at 12k miles it went out again. has anyone noticed at hi volumes the headunit turn down for a few sec.?

I'm at 16,000+ miles and my sub is fine. The head unit is gone, but my g/f has it, and she hasn't compained about it to me yet though...

i max my volume at 15-20. Also, use the recommended settings that came on the card with the kenwood. if you want more bass, adjust the NF level, not the Bass level. Dont make the NF level go more than 2/3's the total bar. thats like NF level 3 i think. it sounds nice at that level anyway, any more and you just trying to impress people anyway

na im not trying to impress people i just like my music LOUD i could care less what people think about my system

the thing with pop is that it has lvl 6 bass and a high NF level. if you have high volume, to my understanding, it still puts alot of stress on the speakers/tweeters/sub. not sure though, i know the rock preset had high bass settings too. basically all the presets are the same.

use a bit of common sense with the sub. I, before getting a new sub, never used to turn it above 3. Most of the time it was at 0 or -1 and my bass at +2 or 0. Low volumes, I had nf at 3, high volumes, I'd turn it WAY down. I rarely go above 20 with volumn. I like my ears, and after dj'ing for 11 years, I don't need my music ear bleeding loud anymore. Besides, it just seems like showing off to me...look at me, I have a loud and expensive stereo, I'm cool so break in and take my stuff!

I see more people blowing subs because they don't use common sense. The Higher the volume, the more you turn down the sub. Some songs you need to turn it down even more...say rap or techno vs rock.

of course, do yourselves a favor and put something better in besides that silly 8" poor excuse of a sub. just imo

yeah, i agree. i think people automatically want to "bump it" with their new 8 inch, but obviously its not gonna be enough if you want that much bass. if it was, people wouldnt get getting 2 12's and other combos.
