Weird electrical glitch

Just a report out.

08 Speed

about 20,000 miles

Last night, while driving, hazards came on by themselves, high beam light displayed on dash with highs off.

Car continued to run and after pulling over and shutting it off, it restarted and the problem disappeared.

I think it must have something to do with the anti-theft system but, with no continuing problem, difficult to determine a cause.

not to say this is good but for me it kind of is. i had a problem for about 2 weeks with the car not starting without a roll start but it ran fine....just didnt start. it fixed itself and never had the problem since. not a clue what was happening. still dont know why it happened and hope it doesnt happen again.

Did it again today, just fired up the hazards this time. Cycling the hazard button on and off in flight stopped it this time.

wierd. you could possibly have a short ANYWHERE in the car. have you messed with any electrical at any time? adding anything or tapping into wires?

Your problem is simple:
Your car is just so eager to be driven fast that it's doing the ricer flash to anyone it can ;)

That is really odd though, just two weeks ago I accidentally left my lights on work and the battery drained down enough to where it wouldn't start and barely had enough power to unlock the doors. I got my car jumped and went on my way. But for the next week after that, everytime I tried to unlock my car with the key fob it would try and lock the car again, no matter how many times I clicked the unlock button it would keep trying to lock for about 20 seconds after the initial try, Then it would finally unlock it. This kept happening for a week and then disappeared, now it works just fine. Kind of interesting, it may or may not be related to your issue, just thought I would share

Only tap is for the lighting on my boost gauge. Good point though; I'll look into that connection later today. I just checked for switched voltage in the pack in the footwell and tapped the first one I found, as I did not have a manual at that time.

I actually had this EXACT initial issue while driving up to a friend's cottage. Crusing on the highway, on cruise control, then all of a sudden my 4ways come with along with the dash indicator for the high beams and my seat-belt attention light.

Turning off the car didn't do anything. Disconnecting the battery obviously stopped it momentarily, but it would resume when I connected it. I was a little paranoid about driving it back to the dealer, so I got it towed there. It's strange that yours disappeared when you turned the ignition off, while mine didn't... but the symptoms were identical.

The only thing I really remember to around the time of it happen was having my GPS plugged into the cigarette lighter under the front console, while also having just plugged in my cell phone to charge in the Accessory outlet in the center arm rest. *shrug*

Turns out my "Passenger Junction Box" completely blew. It was replaced free of charge under warranty. (07 with 33k miles on it) They said they had no idea how it happened, or why, and they have no real record for it happening often with the car. That was 6 months ago. No issues since.

Hope that helps.

Well, you're a Canadian and so am I thus, you must be speaking the truth. Step one with any electrical issues is to check the fuse box and condition of said fuses. I will be getting at that box this weekend.

Taking things back to the dealer is a bit of a headache, with my flow mods so, I'll deal with whatever comes up on my own. Money I can fix it faster and probably cheaper than the dealer cost for the part.
