Weird clutch issue

I have a 2000 Protege 5 that recently started experiencing a weird clutch issue. The car has 123k miles, by the way. In the morning, the clutch engages/disengages when the pedal is a couple of inches off the floor, and the pedal is soft. This is the way it has always been. About a week ago I noticed that as the car got warmed up and was driven for a while the engagement/disengagement point in right at the top of the pedal travel, and the pedal is much stiffer.
Any ideas what might cause this, and what to do about it?

Thanks,
Ken

Also look into the clutch cable.

Ah that probably isn't it because it should just be getting more loose over time.

clutch cable? its a hydraulic clutch to my knowledge, you may need to flush out the system with some new brake fluid, over time brakefluid becomes saturated with moisture and becomes less effective. there is a very useful method for doing it on here is you search.

Yes, it's a 2002. Guess I can't type. (crazy)

Yes, it's a hydralic clutch. I tried bleeding it, but maybe I need to keep going.

I'll do a search for the flush/ bleed tips.

Thanks for the help.

whats this thing about clutch and brake fluid levels?

I read somewhere that they share the line or something.....?? please expand

the clutch cyclinder is below and attached to teh master cyclinder.

if 1 is low then both are low.

if its really low.

no brakes but dont worry, you still can shift. lol

They share the same reservoir...It's the one very close to the windshield. I'm not sure then where from the reservoir the lines start diverge. Shouldn't be too far.
