What kind of weight reduction on a 3rd gen sedan can be done w/o going to the extents of removing the back seat? LoL

go for a jog and eat lettuce. :)

basic stuff like remove spare tire, remove passenger seat (if it's for temp racing), CF hood would remove 15lbs or so.

i see.. how heavy are our seats? its cold and cranky here so i dont wanna rip out the tools and scale ::shiver::

I'm not sure about the sedans but the P5's seats take less than 2minutes to pull out.

One of my favorite little drag racing tricks is to swap your rear wheels for baby spares. Baby spares are very thin so there is less drag and they are light so you save rolling weight. I only do this at the track though so don't do i on the street

I'm going through a pretty interesting weight reduction right now. my car doesn't get daily driven much though so some of this is a little extreme for the average driver.

No radio/speakers
No A/C
15 inch rims
side exit exhaust
No floor mats/spare tire/jack

I still have to replace the front seats, steering wheel, battery with lighter stuff, but that will probably be negated by the 6 point cage going in. I'll probably be weighing my car again at the end of the week. I'll try and post up what I have. The last time I weighed it it was at 2690lbs with 1/3 tank of gas.

The front and rear seats on the P5 and sedans are pretty eady to get out in a short time period. Fronts have 4 bolts and rears have under 8 total and they are easy to get at.......

ewww, we are heavy arent we..

You would probably start about 100lbs lighter due to the sedan and not having the MSP amp/sub setup in the trunk which actually makes them heavier than a Pro5. In the modern day of cars (after 1990) we are actually pretty light weight considering the size of the chassis. I talked to a fellow racer the other day who runs an old gutted VW Rabbit. His car weighed 1700lbs...errrr

Good advice. I'm Vegan so it's almost impossible to be overweight.

I weigh 145 lbs and I'm the lightest male driver in my AutoX region I believe. It helps tremendously no matter what car you are driving. My car feels much slower with another 150lbs person sitting in the passenger seat.

hahaha. that was a joke.. lettuce is the appetizer you get while you're waiting for your appetizer.
i'm 6'5 and 275lbs... i'm not built for racing. lol
But I also have a 100lbs sound system and FAT rims.

LoL, i still have my 15'' stock alloys.. i just got rid of my 125lb sterio..my ears hurty muchy.

what is it that makes such a little car so heavy?

Sound deadening also...Everyone now wants quieter and smoother cars...But either case, even the P5 is far from "heavy"...the MSP's are over 2800lbs...and a P5 with a sunroof is supposedly around 2720lbs wet without a driver or other options...and the sedans are aroudn 30lbs lighter...

The 3's start around 2875lbs I think, and go up with options and with the 5 door...so it could be alot worse...

no kiddin? man.. n/a jus keeps getting harder and harder, lovin it! :)

Loose the Spare Tire, Jack, Carpets, Air Conditioning System, Relacte the Battery to the trunk and get a small Racing Cell. Lighter Rims, Remove the Washer Fluid, Run a 1/4 Tank of gas. More Crazy.. Remove rear seats, Replace glass with Lexan. Remove Interior Panels. Remove Main Carpet, Sownd Liner. Dash. All Ductwork, Vent Fan/Blower.

Power Window Motors, Door Lock Actuators, Stock Stereo. Metal Plate that holds the ECU,
