Weight Reduction

Easiest way to lower the weight of the car - usually would be for the driver to lose a few pounds. Since April 1st - I have lost 32 lbs.

That really isn't an issue since I'm 160 lbs. I'll do the spare and the jack and stuff. I may also take the tar out if I'm into autox enough.

Pull the door panels off... air saw the interior part of the door. Put the door panels back on......Chop anything non-structural. Cover it up with stock panels. Polycabonite the windows. Chip off the sound deadening under all the carpeting. That'll do it! Sleeper style :D

You can take the tar under your car that protects the body it weighs about 200 pounds but then your bottom rusts out. I removed my spare, stock sub, the wood florbaord piece, the carpeting, entire back seats, paneling, just left one lightweight sparco seat in the front. The rear of the car lifted up abotu an inch and a half and the handling was bad, the car rolled more and i slipped when making sharp turns easier. higher center of gravity... also removing your gas tank and relocating a smaller one to the engine would provide you with more front traction becaue the more weight on the front wheels the less slippage when u start or changing gears. removing all of this didnt take to long, it toook longer to put it back on. Once i modify my car more im def going to strip it again.. also removing the power steering belt would add a bit of zip to your car for a free mod..

As for the door opening mechanisms. Has anyone looked at these. I knowthe common ways windows open is with a scissoring motion of two usually heavy steal plates. Do our cars use these? I'm sure it would be really easy to make a pair out of fiberglass

hey you know what? remove the windshield squirters.that saves about a pound for the tank plus about 5 or 10 on the extra fluid. replace your front seats with some lighter ones.you could probably get some carbon fiber body parts or fiberglass ones. get some custom Flex-a-lite rear windows made for it would help a TON

HAHAHAHA, that article is MAD funny! What a waste of a perfectly good car to give to a newbie driver, of course not for us to drive! :D

i hear removing the driver can take away a good 150-250 lbs, depending on the specific make and model of said driver. of course, there are exceptions to this rule, namely there are some of the female model that may weigh in under 100 lbs, but those are rare. on the flip side, you may find male types (or a rare female:eek: ) that come in closer to 300. i've also heard that by removing the driver, you are taking away a vital component in the car's operation. rumor has it that if you leave the driver in in the beginning, and remove it while the car is in motion, you could see a small increase in speed following the momentum law (p=mv, constant p, less m = more v) until the engine slows because of a lack of pressure to the gas pedal. as a whole, i would not recommend this procedure because if you do get the car moving, someone could get hurt once the driver is pulled.
