at idle my car vacs at aobut 18.. wen im driving and let go of the gas it goes to 20, i have the stewart warner boost gauge and a.f ratio gauge (which dsnt do fuk all)

Yep, 18 is a shade on the low side .. At idle, I run 20-21. When driving and either not on the gas or between shifts, it drops to 24.

Could just be your gauge is off a little, even tho' that brand is good. Shrug.
 
could this mean i have a lleak,,, i have hard pipes and right where it is welded together theres a little tiny pin hole right off the fmic, i pluged it but it dnt do much of a difference,,, maby my vag lines??

another question to i have a a greddy manual boost contoller and unichip i have it at 10% gain and when i floor the gas the boost needle jumps back and forth from 8-10 psi, like its bouncing off of 10 hits 8 goes back to 10 so on and so forth...
 
Other owners have reported a vac reading of 18 at idle with stewart warner boost gauges. Mine also reads 18 in at idle and 20 inches while coasting in gear.
 
Yea I generally sit at about 20-21 during Idle. Except on the 1st startup of the day, it sits around 18 for a few minutes until its warm. As for your question regarding the Boost It sounds like its spiking to its highest boost then lowering off at higher rpm's thats all. It's normal. I run stock boost and mine peaks to a "WHOPPING" 7psi :P and holds 6 steady.
 
Yeah 7 is low, I was driving around today at 9-9.5psi feels great. I do wish we could boost higher than that, stupid rods being so damned thin. Oh yeah today I drove the car on a long drive for the first time in months. I looked down at the boost/vac gauge at a light and I was at like 15-16 WTF. Idled smooth and no power issues so I figure it must be the gauge or something. Towards the end of my trip on the way home it gets to about 19, and when I get home I'm at 22 again. Wierd but I'm guessing it was the rings reseting themselves into the motor or something like that.
