Water in hatch compartment next to spare

Does anyone else notice water trapped in the little compartment to the far far left rear of the hatch area? You have to lift up the corner flap of carpet and stick your hand down into the sheetmetal comartment but I found more than 2" of standing water. There is a plug on the bottom which I removed to drain it and I am wondering weather to leave it out or replace it.

All cars allow some water into this area so that is not a big concern, the bigger question is weather that plug should be left out to allow the collected water to drain. Seems it could be a big rust issue down the road.

if you leave it out water will come in when your driving in the rain.

I had plenty of water there aswell...but I jst used a wetvac to suck it out...didn't find the plug there

take your car to a body shop and ask them your question. i do not believe that this compartment was made to hold water.you must have a leak somewhere.checked mine today and it was so dry it had dust after the body shop go to the dealership and see what they tell you keep us posted good luck,
