was told not to put on intake

Today I went to Dennis dillion and had a guy that works there till me not to put and intake system on my 2007 speed 3 he said that it would cause my o2 sensor to go of as well as other things . Are there and 2007 ms3 owners that have been able to put on cold air intake and not have this happen if so what brand system did u use ? Also I feel like that guy might have not known what he was talking about because I have seen that putting cold air intake on is like the first thing I would want to do if I plan to customize the guts

That guy is an idiot. I ran a CorkSport SRI/TIP on the stock tune for nearly a year before I picked up an AP. As long as the MAF housing is the same diameter as stock, you'll be fine.

I believe it was the very early AEM/Mazdaspeed intakes that did not have the air Straitener in the MAF housing that caused some cels

I have an 09 speed 3 with the mazdaspeed cai, and it came with the air straightener (IIRC, I purchased mine in 2010) - no cels, runs great!

Your car will perform well with any reputable aftermarket intake, CAI or SRI, if it is specifically designed for our cars. No generic intake. MAF housing must be correct.

And this is the most bang for the buck power mod you can do for your car. 15-20 whp gain from intake alone on stock turn. I have the Maxdaspeed CAI with air straightener, have been running it since about one month after I bought my '08 new, and I'm now at 98,000 miles.

Very Very early models. I bought my AEM CAI in Aug 2008 and it included and airflow straightener. All is perfect.

My first cai was an Injen. It was the long tube type that poked down underneath the fenderwell. Had the dealer install it and the 07 Speed 3 did not like it at all. First, it sucked water from under the fender well. Second, O2 lights as described in the first post. I switched to a Cobb SRI and have never looked back. Night and day. It went from "zoo-cough, zoo-cough" right back to "zoom zoom" on the first blast.
