Warped Hood

So I took off the hood props, and it looks a little better. But it's still noticable .. I might try moving the latch down a bit and see if that might help cover it up a bit more.

that's still very warped.. that sucks, hopefully DG stands behind their product and fixes it.. especially since you stored it laying down, doesn't make sense at all that it would bend that way.

By looking at the pics it appears almost as if it was stored leaning up against a wall (front of the hood on the ground).

I stored my crap APC cf hood like that for nearly a year without issue, but yeah, that's the only way to get it to warp like that.

1. Park in warm sun
2. Put microfiber towels on hood in middle of high spot
3. Pet some ballast on the sides over the props (not too much, just enough to push it down to flush)
4. Wait til it gets cooler out, in the evening/night
5. Remove stuff
6. Profit

Already contacted DG about it and they won't do crap for me cuz I bought the hood used. I think I spoke with Amie, and she just told me to keep the hood on there and it should go back to its' orriginal shape. For some reason I doubt that will do anything..

Yea that's the only way I figured it could happen too, but the hood was in a box laying flat the whole winter. I dunno .. it makes no sense to me.

If that works .. I'll send you $10 via PayPal as soon as it gets warm enough outside for me to try it. No joke either.

It was raining when you took those pictures. Maybe the moisture in the air was evaporating and caused a high pressure under the hood and a low pressure above it. This reminds me of that time I lost a dorito in my couch

No paypal necessary, but I know for a fact that this works. Had the same problem with my hood after a trip to hotass phoenix. Worked like a charm for me.

Good luck with it.

Wow! I'd never heard of CF hoods warping until I read this thread! Mine is straight as the day I bought it (thankfully) and it has seen consecutive weeks of 100 deg F and sub-zero temps this past winter (never took it off).

Does it have to do with expansion rates of CF vs fiberglass? is the DG hood just an overlay on a FG frame?

or could be the hood props accelerating the warping
The props didn't cause it .. it was like that prior to me installing them. It's just that when I put them on the hood would stick up even further.
