Wannabe Newbe

Hi, everyone I am new the Mazdaspeed 6 world and would appreciate any expertise on the knowldge of any buying tips for a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6. I am looking at one in Cardinale Way Buick GMC Pontiac in North Scottsdale Arizona for $15 K in Autotrader with about 46k on it. I am totally insane for the Mazdaspeed 3, yet I can't find one in Las Vegas, where I live, so I want that speed6. Please HELP!!

Welcome to the speed world. The used speed market is a bit hit or miss since the cars were kind of a limited release. Seems more of them hit the used market around fall since that's when a lot of leases seem to end. If you are really looking for a speed3, you can try to haggle on a new one at either of the mazda dealers here in the valley since everyone is fighting to make a sale and the 2010 speed3 is officially unveiled next week. Just make sure you do your research, hold a firm line on the price, and don't let them sense your love for the car or they will eat you alive.

As for the speed6 you're looking at in AZ, I say meh. It's only a sport, which you can usually pick up for around that price with far less miles and it's only sitting on 17's... where did the stock 18's go? I'd say you can do much better for that price. I got my 06 GT with 28k back in october for $18k when they were asking $23k for it. It's usually not a good idea to jump on a used car when it's listed at a much lower price than all the others because it's probably that price for a reason. If you're willing to travel as far as AZ for a car, there are plenty of other speed6's (as well as speed3's) in that same radius, most being in cali. Happy hunting.

Good luck...I dont recommend extended warranties unless they are from MAZDA.

why not? I have one through cost guard, and they've been pretty much no hassle other than a sunroof motor. I would say if it has that many miles of it, then pay no more than $15k. there are tons of ms6's within like 250 miles of where I am, and they are priced between 17k-22k, but once I called to play interested, the prices dropped at least 1500 and some dropped $3k+. This is what I would do if it were a sport. 10k-20k miles, I wouldn't pay more than 19k for it, 15k-30k, I wouldn't pay more than 17k, and if it was a gt, then give them another 500-1k. also, check the car faqs on these cars because I came across 2 with accidents and they were around 15k with 20-23k miles.

They cost too much. I have savings for this type of stuff. Once you roll that warranty into the finace cost of the vehicle over 4 years it is VERY EXPENSIVE. To me...and Consumer Reports..they just are not worth the cost. But, whatever works for you.(sun)

I agree...

I used to sell used cars and I obviously sold warranties. I can honestly only recommend a manufacturer warranty - that is the best way to go.

Thanks, everyone for your interest, though the Dealer closed this past Friday, so they weren't able to tell me where it's going. I Haven't seen a ton of speed 3's or 6's, man I looked my @$$ off. Anyway, I love that car, though today I found a car. Yes, I settled with a 2006 v-6 Accord manual 6 speed, it's nice and for 15K all leather, not super fast but, it gets down when needed. I am happy, it sure rides nice. Guess I am true Honda nutt instead.(usa)
