I can not compare thoroughly myself, because, as a newbie to modding, I am not sure of everything to look for. Can you guys help me out with your thoughts on how they compare? I am ready to buy now, but i want to make an educated decision. Please help educate me. :D Thanks. (hear ya)

ditto ditto

they both make awesome products, but ion is a bit shady, personal opinion: go with wagner

Basically your bringing back to life the Spool vs. Ion debate that might predate you. Then like now after a lot bitching and griping between members it boils down to exactly the same thing as it did when Spool was still around. Personal preference. Both Wagner and Ion make great products. In Ion's corner you have several satisfied customers and a long term working relationship with this board. In Wagner's you have a new product which could mean better R&D, another well respected vendor to this board and a product made in the USA.

A lot of people have a problem with Ion not having a decent web page and because of that and the fact that Jack monitors the board and hops into threads. Those two reasons are why you will hear some refer to him as shady. IMO it doesn't make him shady or not worth trusting. He has provided quality products to many people on this board and followed up with great customer support. In fact I can't think of any complaints I have ever heard about his products, only his lack of webpage. The only vendors I would ever consider shady are those who rip people off or intentionally deceive their customers. Yeah we have had some of those.

However, that is not to say you should buy from him. The bottom line is either product is going to do the job of reducing under the hood temps. and providing a denser charge far better than the stock unit. I realy doubt if dynoed side by side either would have a dramatic advantage over the other. So, in this case buy from the person (company) you feel the best about. In the end their customer support and tech. advice is going to be what sets one apart from the other.

Well Said Vodapass.. (evil)

Ive been researching all night and after many pm's and search threads Ive come pretty familiar with both. The only thing that bother's me with ION, is how many times Ive heard complaints about shipping taking several months. I understand that its probably not always their fault, dealing with 3rd parties and stuff but I think Ive made my decision. Wagners comes with more for a lil less. I trust that Andy will do great work. Not to say Jack wouldnt or hasnt. Its nice to have the luxury of having more than one vendor.

Yes it is. That was one of the sadest parts of losing Spool. We lost the choice. Thanks to Andy that choice is back. You are correct about Ion's shipping and I should have put that in the original thread. As far as I can tell Andy makes his products in house while Ion's are designed by Ion but than manufactured out of house. So, that can lead to serious delays.

Glad to hear that you put in the time and did the research. Be sure to post pics of the install and let us know how everything works out for you. I'd say I'd do the same, but there's probably more than enough pics of Ion's FMIC on here.

I will definently post pics but the install may have to wait until May. Conflicting schedules with those who are gonna help. But Im excited and cant wait.

about wagner, didnt you hear about what happened bt them and boostisgood?? I'd like to know facts of why one is better, not rely on who i like better or who has a better reputation...

well reputation has ALOT to do with peoples decision on which companies they are going to deal with. I mean if company A and B both have good product quality but B has shady reputation who do you think will get the business. Just like happened to Quick, he had a shady reputation on other forums and was denied vendor status here because of that.

I mentioned Juan because he is both very reputable and has had quality products for the mazda engines for what 15 yrs now....so in my opnion thats probably who I wold go with, then wagner simply cause I wouldnt want to deal with canadian border shipping with ion, otherwise I dont have anything against them. Plus arent they the ones Turbo magazine is using for their project MSP, so if you follow that project car article you will get to see their products in action and dyno'd/

i would go with wagner. ion, maybe when they put the effort of putting a decent website up first. It would be nice to know what they sell.

Well Said!! Gotta ditto the fact that side by side they are going to dyno VERY similar if done on the same car on the same dyno. We are talking about a passive air cooling device. If the specs are similar(which they are) you are going to see very similar numbers.

Ion, Wagner, Hiboost all three have made excellent products for members of this board. All, arguably, have drawbacks to their company, as does any highly analyzed manufacturer. But in the end they are all good companies and some of the fastest Proteges on here use their products.

In the end this thread is pointless except to cause trouble. Lock this s*** up and lets be done with it.

im just curious, what are the drawbacks for hiboost?(only since they are one of my 2 consideration for future plans) cause I have never seen any....

I was trying to be unbiased by saying that..... Hiboost really doesn't have any that I can speak to though.
