VWvortex is putting us down!!!

dont worry about vortex i was on there for over a year, bunch of brainless idiots over there, i wouldnt be worried all that much.

The MS3 is just a fancy commuter car if you ask me. Why buy anything but a European car if you dont have to.

Because his VW wasn't built in Mexico... Typical Audi wannabe's.

i dunno what's up with all the hatred and stereotyping but my brother owns a 1.8t and he's nothing like what you guys say

Not all vw/audi guys are douches.. but all vwvortex guys sure are. They think their cars are so ultra european, the perfect car evAR, but meanwhile vdub gets horrible reliability scores.. overpriced crap if you ask me.

If I had 22k, I'd definitely get the MS3 over the GTI. The MS3 @ 22k would kick the ass of a GTI@22k.. plaid seats anymore? (doh)

that being said I wouldn't buy either car because I'm not at all sold on FWD.

VWhat? Seriously though, VWs aren't all that bad, they're just overpriced IMO. When I sat in the GTI at the Chi. auto show last year, I was impressed. But when I priced one out, I started thinking WTF? Since when did VW think ppl would start paying for the name? I have yet to race anyone and I honestly don't think anyone around me knows what the wild child can really do. But I'm now past the 600 mile mark on the odo so let the games begin!!!

OMG VWVortex is a bunch of ass clowns. I worked for VW for 3 years and can not stand euro owners. Something about die hard VW nuts drives me crazy. They cannot like any other type of car (domestic, import, classic, muscle etc) So i say whatever to them...vw's are just a poor mans bmw..LOL. Dont listen to that forum, half of them are teenagers that dont know a lug nut from a turbo..lol

No no no. VW's are poor man's Audis. Please don't associate BMW with VW. :D

well, my bro doesn't know what forums are, so i guess he's alright. i'm always looking up stuff for it on vwvortex when he asks questions. i don't pay much attention to the 'off topic' threads, just the how-tos or other educational/informational threads when i know what i'm looking for.

you mean like their tire stretching how-to threads? (ricer)(ricer)(ricer)(ricer)(ricer)(ricer)

^^ I won't for a second trust a dyno test of a car with a TMIC tested with the hood open.. so stupid.

Why? It's not like you are going to really achieve any sort of gain with the hood closed and some weak fans on.

well yeah.. but it's still an unfair disadvantage.

What? If anything it's an advantage..Heat rising into open air as opposed to a hood..Those numbers are about par for the course compared to everyone else's dyno numbers. Especially since Automobile Magazine is a bunch of chuckleheads.

but no air flowing into the TMIC.. at all.

Uh..what? The hood is open. The only air that would be coming from anywhere would be from the ambient fans. If anything, the hood closed would restrict air to the TMIC given the fact there is no way for air to even get there without momentum.

any air blowing at the front of the car.. with the hood closed, would be routed to the TMIC. With the hood open, 0 will get to the TMIC. yeah it might make a minimal difference but why not make the dyno test optimal?

case in point: when a wrx without a FMIC gets dynoed by anyone who knows what they're doing, they put a fan right over the TMIC to simulate the real airflow it would get at speed..

http://youtube.com/watch?v=_JQd1JG6AFE

dyno testing a MS3 with the hood open is 99% like removing it's intercooler entirely.. I sure as hell wouldn't dyno my car with the intercooler removed, no way.

Chris you are reaching. Simulating air flow at what speed? They are just randomly putting a fan on it for the principle. Does it make a difference, maybe, but if anything, thats an unfair advantage. Bottomline, to accurately simulate airflow at real speed, it takes a LOT more than that.

And for the record, I've never seen anyone from XX-tuning or any other dyno operator stuff a fan on top of a TMIC. Just your regular front located dual fan set-up.

Like I said earlier, the difference between the small airflow it would get from an ambient fan with the hood closed is probably equates to having the hood open and allowing the TMIC to vent to open air. We're arguing a moot point here.
