VIR TRack Day, Hosted By Freedom Autosport & Long Road Racing-Interest Thread

subbing, That would be cool but we'll have to see

Are the I64/I77 toll booths really now $3 each?! The last time I went through there (last holiday season) they were $2. I actually remember a time when they were $1...

Depending on how things work out with the car, I might be interested in this so I can actually learn the track and make a legitimate Ultimate Track Car Challenge appearance next year.

I had a ton of fun at VIR when I went last year.

Took me 10 hours to get there though because I was towing mine and my dad's car through all those stupid mountains.

What about the weather in Feb? Looks like the average high is in the low 50s...

I was there earlier this year on Feb 19-20. I think I got really lucky though, because the temps were in the 70's!

However, I didn't have so much luck on the way home. Once I got into Ohio, the temps dropped to below 30. Once I hit Akron, I hit a snow storm. I also made the mistake of not bringing my winter wheels with snow tires. Snow + below 30 degree weather + Summer tires = BAD!! The tires were so hard, it felt like I was driving on the rims. Then, I couldn't even get the car in the garage because my driveway is very steep. I ended up leaving the car parked in the street because I was way too tired to change wheels outside (had just drove 9 hours straight). Of course, it snowed even more over night and I had to go to work the next morning. I ended up taking my dad's car to work. When I came home, it was STILL snowing. So I said, **** it, and changed the front 2 wheels to my winter wheels. I was able to get up the driveway into the garage, then I could change the wheels. Damn it sucked changing wheels in blizzard conditions haha.

we were at VIR in Feb 2010 and it was sunny and high 60's ... as Evan II can bear witness, the weather is more of a gamble up here than down there so the travelling is questionable, not so much the track time.
