use caution when ordering from drivewire.com

some of your might recognize this thread, there is an explanation at the end.

i talked to eibach about a spacer set in the beginning of january. they said they have been out of stock of it and will be until the summer, but it could possibly be discontinued. they told me that the last potential customer of theirs that might have that certain wheel spacer set in stock would be drivewire.com. (BTW, i salute eibach for going above and beyond in this situation, they were amazing)...anyway, so i decide that night, 1/6, to order the spacers from the DW site. they issue a tracking number the next day....the tracking number doesn't work for 3 days, so i try to call DW to no avail. it automatically puts you on hold, says you are first in line, and you wait and wait....to no avail. so i called eibach back to see if just by chance, DW had put in an order for the spacers within the past few days. sure enough, they did. i asked the eibach inside rep if he can help me contact someone over at DW. he gives me a number to Carlos. i call him and he tells me he'll cancel the order and refund me. this is 1/9.

fair enough.

he then sends me an email on the following monday, 1/12, saying that eibach has a different set of spacers in stock, and he wanted to check with be before issuing the refund. very nice of him to do that, however, i told him i know this different set is available, but they are not what i can use. i reinforced my request to please issue a refund.

i wait, and wait....i get nothing. i call, email, call, email....i talk to carlos multiple times. nothing. on 1/26, i ask to talk to someone above who i've been talking to and they transfer me to their 'boss' jesse, and i leave a voice mail. i still see nothing, so i call back on 1/28, and they tell me there is no jesse there, but a brian. so i get put on hold for 6 minutes and eventually hang up. so, overall, i have about 20 communications to them over this time. i call discover and they dispute it. i got my money back instantly.

the next day i got a call from the president of the company, brian. evidently he found the first round of threads i made regarding this situation and investigated internally to find out who i was. he was very nice and apologized thoroughly, which is utterly commendable. he agreed with me that the treatment was unacceptable and offered me a discount on a future purchase. he also refunded my money anyway, despite my chargeback.

the night i made the chargeback, i searched the internet about this account and found that this is not uncommon with drivewire.

brian explained a few reason why this might have occured, and all of them seemed potentially viable. i told him that considering his actions and apology, i'd consider this with my internet postings. i then had all of the threads on various forums deleted because i admit they were rather harsh (titled "drivewire.com are SCAMMERS")

cliffs: if you order something from drivewire.com, make sure they check with Eibach first before you order, and you might even benefit by checking with Eibach too to see if it's available to be sold to drivewire, to be sold to you. and, if you have any issues, don't deal with anyone except brian.
