Upgrades to gain Fuel Mileage?

Hello, new to the forums. I have some basic questions. I own the car in my sig to perform the task of getting me back and forth to work everyday. For that it has done well. I have owned it a little over a year and have had to replace the clutch & timing belt. It has 118,000 miles on the clock.

my questions are:
#1 It'll soon be time to replace the air filter and I was wondering what good drop-in filters were out there or inexpensive intake systems. If I have to replace, I don't mind putting a little extra $$ into upgrading for the sake of better performance. I am familiar with K&N, and as I am interested in a cleanable filter, maybe not so much interested in the oily ones due to the problems you can have with sensors.

#2 - The front rotors have needed replaced for some time now as they are warped. I do not know what that PO put on there, but it was leverage for me to talk the price down. Anyway I don't want cross-drilled and vented rotors because it's not necessary for my car. I just want a good set of rotors and pads designed for the everyday. I have looked at the protege garage website, but am still wondering what the best value is.

Are there any other inexpensive or free tricks that can be done to these cars for better mileage or more power without sacrificing mileage? Thanks!

Mods please move this as necessary. I see there are probably better places for this. Sorry newbie mistake...

If you aren't looking for performance brakes, just go to your local car parts store and pick up a set of rotors and pads. Dont get the el cheapo ones, but their mid-range priced ones will suffice for a daily driver. A cold air intake is a good add for your car, it will help with gas mileage and add a little more pep to your car.
