unique gague(s) placement...

I want mine that way, except i want them to sit further back in the pocket so that i can have a little door and close it when i'm not in the car so that nobody from outside can see them. i'm trying to make something out of a piece of plastic

Here's a link to my thread about this:

I swear I saw some that took over the air vents and somebody had installed them into the mp3 pocket. both looked good but I need my air from the vents.

Here it is!!!

I've seen this new product out yesterday, doubt they make it for the Protege's yet, but it's a gauge holder on top of your steering column, and it's got small "antenna's" if you want to say, and the gauges bolt to those, but it's very futuristic looking and you can rotate them to different positions, thought it was different, think I saw it in Import Racer Magazine or something like that.

Here's mine right now, but I plan on switching to the Z2 gauge pod soon. If anyone wants my triple gauge pod, I'll accept reasonable offers.

Tiwing has the 3 gauge panel in the pocket.
He got it from www.42draftdesigns.com
It looks big time pimp.
Shoot him a PM.
That's where I got mine & I was the 1st person on here to have it. :D 42DD has lots of other great parts for sale & Evan is very helpful if you have any ?s.

What's wrong with "the rest of us"!!!

I think the pillar is the best location to look at, and keep your eye on the road. Heck, the pillar only cost like $25, right jonboy?
it's a common place, yes. i've even had it there on previous cars but i just don't like the bulky look it gives anymore, the fact that other drivers can see as well as cops (i wanted to go with a cleaner more subtle look this time around) and since the gauges/pod are on the bulkier side it does hinder your line of sight outside the windshield on that side (esp. a triple pod). better understood when you do track racing, spirited mountain driving, etc. where you need to see the full view of an on coming turn to compensate quickly. i'll post some pics when i can. you still can see the readings on the gauge fairly well and it helps even more because it has warning features and is a 60mm size.

i mounted it at the base of the a-pillar (it's not attached to the a-pillar) on the dash. i mounted it when looking from the outside driver's side angle you can't see the gauge. it's an electronic 60mm boost gauge with a typical japanese gauge holder (a ring with a flat flexible base that attaches via double sided tape). fed the wires through the a-pillar down to the proper wire hookup. i personally don't like the look and the fact your blocking parital view when it's mounted on the a-pillar so i came up with the location i have now. doesn't block any outside view and isn't visible when pulling up on the driver's side. plus it looks clean. don't have pics cause it's dark out but i can take some later if you'd like.
how about those pics man?? im interested to see your set up....

Im using gauge cups mounted on the a-pillar, for a little different approach.

very nice, different too. i was thinking i could have someone make or find a pod/cup that fits perfectly between the pillar and the dash, kinda wedged between the two if you understand what i mean....i saw that set up on another car and i cant remeber where i saw it or what kind of car it was in.......GRRRR! thanks for the pics man!

hmmm, not bad.......im just wanting something unique and different than everyone else....damn, just wish i could get a hold of a pod that fits perfectly between the pillar and the dash........

I just picked up a z2 for www.03msp.com and I turned out like crap. The thing does not fit right, go back on correctly, or look even remotely worth buying. The business end of the deal was great. I ordered it and it took only two days to get here, but when I put it in two days ago everything went to the shitter. Now the little black bezel around the radio doesnt go in, the screw holes dont match very well and the worst of all is that you can see the holes and the slits in the top after install. Looks terrible and would suggest people stay away if they are looking for clean!

if anything if you have a reputable car stereo shop around your area that you know of try and see if they'd make you a custom enclosure like that. i have the basic idea of what you're talking about but have never seen anything on the market in that exact spot. "something different" usually always means custom stuff, one of the facts of life i suppose. another idea to consider may be getting rid of or relocating your tweeter on the door garnish and making a custom enclosure to fit a gauge. i know of some people that have done that as well. good luck on your hunt for a gauge spot.
