Ok, first of all, I am not what you call a street racer or exceedingly hard driver. I haven't had any major transmission problems like many are describing, but I have had winter "stickiness" when shifting, and an occaisional 1st->2nd grind. The problem is, during/after my roadtrip to South Carolina, I noticed that when I would shift from 1st into 2nd at about 4500 rpms, the car kind of jerks instead of a smooth shift, especially at a cold start (although it was like 85 degrees out). Never really did this before.
The last few times I've been on the on-ramps getting onto the interstate, I will go to about 5500-6000 rpms to just have a little fun. I've probably grinded 1st-2nd a couple of times this past week!!! Am I just not getting the clutch all the way down? Or is this something I should have my dealer look at during my semi-monthly bushing fix?
I sure hope its not the dreaded transmission problem. A few people on ProtegeClub (sorry) have mentioned that switching transmission fluid to Redline MT90 has really smoothed out their shifts, and motul fluid for the clutch has helped disengage the clutch quicker since it seems to want to be pressed ALL THE WAY to the floor which is a bit uncommon.
Grrrr.
