TWM Shifter Bushings

Has anyone installed the TWM aluminum shifter bushings on their Mazdaspeed3 shifter? I tried to do this today but wasn't able to seperate the shifter linkages from where they connect to the plastic of the shifter base in the back underneath the center console. The manual that comes with it just says to push up but they don't come out for me. Is there some kind of release to unhook them or something?

they do just pop off, i used a screw driver for leverage on one side. be careful not to use the sharp edge . good luck, they are worth the time!

Are you talking about the ball joints? I got those off with a flathead screw driver. Its where the rods connect to the shifter base back underneath the console that I'm having trouble getting off. Instructions say to lift up but they don't lift up.

sorry. mine did just lift off. i again used the screwdriver for a little help. you lift straight up on them

you don't need to take those off or the linkages that connect to the shifter. Just get your hands in there pop out the old bushings and install the new ones. The only reason to take the linkages off is to install a new shifter. I installed my bushings in the way described with no problems

Just installed mine 2 days ago... NICE improvement on feel with negligible vibration. I was having issues missing 3rd on hard jumps, now it's much more positive. Install took about 30 minutes - same thing on the cables. Popped them off with a larger flathead screwdriver and just moved them out of the way... and I didn't even bother to completely remove the center console. (boom01)
