sup guys. jus wanted to let ya know i received my twm shifter bushings today. got them at around 1 and the install done at about 1:30. HUGE IMPROVEMENT. shifts soooo much easier and a hell of alot more fun to drive. thanks to all who recommended it. and i totally would recommend it to all ms3 owners. cheap, easy to install, awsome bang for your buck. cant wait to to install my motor mount inserts (thursday) and cobb sri, prosport boost gauge, and forged bpv (next week).....

I'm glad to hear that, I'm looking at doing the ss w/ bushings real soon too, where did you order yours from?

I ordered mine through SU. Wasn't that expensive. They are waiting for their next shipment though because they are all sold out. I can't wait to get mine

i am ordering mine right now, so these will work in place of the stock ones correct, i dont have to buy the short shifter too right?

They replace the stock and you dont have to have the SS for them to work..They are a great mod for the money..

Just got my inserts in the mail along with the shifter bushings. I feel like selling the inserts and ordering the new CPE mm, I hear they have very little vibe and a lot better than the inserts

Looks like I have to go against the grain here.

I got my TWM bushings with high hopes. Unfortunatly, the didnt seem to hold up to all the hype found online. It didnt noticably make the shifter more precise, a little, but not much. The clunking when shifting sure seemed to be more aparent, though... not when driving, just rowing the gears with the motor off and clutch in. Not a big deal, because we usually shift while we drive, you know?

$40 for 4 metal bushings and washers is rediculous for what they did for the car.

Making a cable operated tranny precise is not something easily accomplished. I have felt some nice ones (still not on par with linkage trannys), but its not happening with the MS3 with just bushings and mounts/inserts. Someone with a SS, did the SS clean up the sloppiness much?

Sorry guys... had to voice my opinion.

This is a first! I will give my opinion when I install mine. I am very critical person.

I'm not sure what made the shifting feel better...the ss, the bushings, or removing the counter ballance on the shiting linkage in the engine bay (i dont know it's technical name)... However, the shifting feels MUCH more accurate. I really wanted a shorter throw with more feed back and i got it from that combo.

However, i could see where no shortening the throw would probably not render a large difference, but rather, a smaller one.

I think that the counter weight on the shifter linkage was probably the most significant change. There was a "how-to" about it

If you want smoother shifting, get a new rear engine mount. I installed a SU rear mount, street version, and it made a noticeable difference in shift feel especially between 1st thru 3rd. It iw way more positive and precise in terms of being in the targeted gear.

I also have the TWM bushings but have not installed them yet.

Just installed mine today. They fell much nicer to shift on. It doesnt bounce around it feels more stiff and sturdy when pushing it into a gear.

I also have CS mm inserts on the table, waiting until I get a jack on sunday to install. Both combined should work well!

How difficult is it to install the shifter bushings?
They should be here Wednesday and I don't pick up the ride til Tuesday so I don't know what's involved.
Is it pretty straight forward?

Installing the bushings is a simple affair. You will be removing the entire center console to get good access to the bushings. There is a plastic frame that the shifter is located in, this frame is isolated from the chassis of the car by 4 rubber bushings and 4 metal bushing sleeves. You will be removing these bushings and sleeves, replacing them with the aluminum ones provided by twm. There are 4 hex head screws, and 2 phillips head screws that attach the center console, and 1 wiring connector that has to be disconnected to remove the entire console.

I think a mm will be my next mod. I think shifting is alot better now with the bushings and ss. I think it was a good buy

Ok...thanks.
