Turn the boost up?

With these mods : Injen CAI , Custom FMIC , and Apexi N1 full exhaust. Do you guys think it would be safe to turn the boost up to 9 or 10. I am not sure what my stock boost is, but what are your guys though of turning the boost up to 9or10 with those mods? Is is SAFE or NOT?

i hate to be the one to say it but.... "SEARCH"

here's cliff notes to the search you're going to do.
YES!
NO!
stock internals have been known to hold upto 12 psi daily driven in one or two cases
stock internals have been known to blow at stock boost in one or two cases.
most turn up to 9 or 10 psi with no problems,

You decide, I say NO

sorry to double post but, here's what i would do in your situation (actually it's what i AM doing)

instead of buying a MBC for $70 and setting it to 10 PSi, send a PM to 505zoom and ask him about his accuboost dsbc (i just ordered one) it's a MBC with a bypass for stock boost and an in cabin switch for a higher boost setting (whatever setting you turn the knob to). i'll post details when mine comes in. it should be tomorrow or the next day so expect a writeup by me in the next week. and in case you're wondering the price altogether for mine was 175 shipped and well worth it IMO.

that was on a much larger turbo though
I could fart more air than a t25 at 10psi
but if you have a larger than stock turbo, dont go over 8psi UNLESS, you have forged internals and some kind of engine management, if you have forged internals and do not have timing controll do not go over 12

They have also been known to hold 22spike/20hold for 3 straight weekends until the turbo gave out. Discreetspeed was also running his at close to 20psi for quite some time. I've been pushing 250whp and higher for over 10k miles.... and it IS my daily driver.

It's all in how you drive it IMHO. I never boost below 2500RPM and I never boost in 5th gear. I also have it tuned very conservatively.

I'm not telling everyone to do it, but I think a lot of people don't give this motor nearly enough credit.

Oh and sickspeed I am sorry about that track number... I left 2 more messages today and Cliff STILL hasn't sent it. My last message was kinda harsh because it is starting to look bad on me, so I promise I will get it no later than tomorrow... should be just in time for your kit to get there, lol.

I run my 28RS at 12psi daily and have been up to 15psi with it... stock bottom end and head. If you tune the car safely and don't beat on it by boosting at low RPM or over-revving it, then it should hold fine.

actually, brian was utilizing a t-25 if im not mistaken, just running like 15psi? i forget...unless he upgraded turbo

*Should* being the key word here of course.

And for many people it *is* the way the car is driven.... I remember one time when someone posted a video of when their motor popped.....going WOT at low rpms in a high gear going up a hill. HMMMMM

Of course there are the unfortunate ones that just have a weak link in the chain, and have destroyed a rod at stock boost driving normally.

yea, depends on driver, and tuning, i drove mine at the track prety much every weekend, and raced on the streets during the week(shh), so my motor lasted alot longer then i woulda guessed, although it woulda lasted longer had i tuned it correctly, looked like a piston gave out from detonation to me.

haha blk, i kind of want to look in my engine to see if any rods are bent, maybe ill do taht after i move to g-ville. i bet a few are.

I have 4 Cp pistons to make necklaces of now. I think those are more impressive (or depressive). lol

know whats funny, when i got my cp pistons, i did make a necklace of one, but i havent broke one yet, so you are one step ahead.
