TurboHoses Intake Tests

Hello,

The tests are done on a completely stock car with only our aluminum hardpipe upgrade.

We have tested two intakes: Short Ram and Cold Air.
Our short ram was equipped with a heat shield and the engine bay was heat soaked before testing.

Both intakes resulted in a gain of 3-4hp.

We then added our AirRam and found an increase in the turbo's spool time.

Note:

There has been mention of a Turkey sound from the BOV. With the increased air flow using the AirRam, the BOV sounds more like a "BOV.

Thanks,

Turbohoses R&D

Please post pics of the intake your talking about. The AirRam that you added and so forth. I would love to just buy the intake but I want to see pics. Thanks and great work.

They have pics of it on there site....the air ram is basically a air horn at the end of the piping.

Isn't the "air-ram some kind of scoop underneath the car? I saw it somewhere, but was leary about it because of the increased chance of water intake during rain or flooding. Maybe this is something different.(dunno)

ARunto, I was just messing with ya. Yeah I should have been more specificatorious about the pic I wanted. BUMP for installed pics of CAI or SRI from Turbohosers... I mean Turbohoses. Great products guys, can't wait to see the pics.

just wondering what makes these intakes better than AEM and INJEN intakes?? just the ram air for a BOV sound?(monkey2)

the air ram thing from looking at the pics from the website reminds me of bellmouth on jet engine for static testing. This is good as it gathers the air around and smoothly channels it into the intake, the only thing I have is the degree of change from one diameter of opening to the other. Like how gradual or how fast does the air ram go from 3" OD to 6" OD? But this is very interesting indeed.

this has been used a lot on other cars including, things like mustangs to MR2's
it is made of spun alluminum, wieghs allmost nothing, and allows you to run a six inch mouthed filter.letting you turbo take as much air as it would like.this would show a lot better gains once the boost starts going up.

HAHAHA thats what it reminded me of...
and is it really 390 for the SRI ???
wow thats alot of money for just an intake! (scratch) that thing better deliver more then 3hp for that price

thats how much they have it for on the site, how do they expect someone to pay that much ?

What I dont understand is how is the intake the same price as the hardpipes? lol

that's what i'm wondering too...i mean, their products are high quality, but damn, this is like a pipe bent 3 times or something, with a funnel on the end. and the hardpipes are easier to install

I like the idea of a.) running a short ram vs. a CAI and b.) losing the turkey sound, if the air ram actually helps. $390 is a lot, if that's what its going to cost, given that the AEM and Injen CAI's are substantially less.

I'd say the 3-4hp gains are probably similar to what you get from the AEM and Injen (although they claim more).

Do you mean spool time improved, or that spool time was negatively impacted?

Nice work with the development of all these products, BTW.

Any fitment issues with your hardpipes and the Injen or AEM CAI's?
