be sure you get both " igniton" wires one stays 12v while you start it and the other ones doesnt. dont tap into the "acc" wire all that does is make your stereo stay on=P

thanks for the info..
actually i'm not installing it..i'm getting it done at a rice shop cause its the only place around that says they can do it...so just wanted to get some info before i go there next week. hopefully the guy knows what he's doing..don't want my sub to stop working or something..

I dunno, man..... You're taking an awful risk with your car if you're NOT sure that the tech is competent!

I wouldn't risk it....... wait till you find a shop that you're really confident in.... too many of those ricer shops are complete MORONS!!!!!! Be careful!

i mean the guy seems fairly knowledgeable, and the shop isnt that bad.. he said he's installed turbo timers before and showed me an hks one he was doing the next day...only thing that bothered me is that he asked if the blitz has a harness...i'm wondering if he knows how to do it without the harness since there isnt one for the msp...:wtf:

I did my Blitz TT install with a friend who is a mechanic. At first; we chose the 'wrong' blue wire on the ignition. Everything appeared okay, but the engine wasn't staying on as the TT counted down. Yesterday; we found the 'correct' blue wire, and all is good, now. We still don't have it wired so you can lock the doors while the TT is counting down, but if anyone would like to indicate the correct 'Keysense' wire, then we will also make that happen. I need to get back over to that thread, and PM the member that mentioned doing that.

Make sure when you have your Blitz installed, they also run that 'purple' wire to your emergency brake wire. That way, if the brake is released while the TT is counting down, the engine will shut off, rendering the car completely immobile. We simply popped the console section on top of the emergency brake and tied into that wire you see there.

We used 3M Quick Connects (part #03826NA) for everything, by the way. The package contains 3 different sizes. The larger (yellow) ones are what you will use. I don't remember if we used the others except for when we tied into the emergency brake, or not. That is a smaller wire. Using these, no wires were cut. They are available at AutoZone, and probably about anywhere electrical supplies are sold. We used these rather than soldering, since he had great results in his other electrical projects. Very clean.

thanks for the info..

from what i've heard, there's not many turbo timers that can be worked around alarm systems...you just have to use the key to lock the doors when its on right?

Well I brought my Blitz to the guy at that shop and when he opened it up and looked at the instructions, he didn't feel confident in installing it, (i even brought up some of the how to guides from this sight on his computer for reference, but he still didnt really want to try it) so now I'm stuck with a Blitz and no one to hook it up..I went to a couple other places, and nobody has knowledge of this stuff to do it for me.
The guy said he could hook up the timer part, but he didnt want to mess with the boost gauge stuff/rpm wires (or something like that), but I didn't want to have a half-ass installation..so I guess I'll have to find someone that can install the whole thing, not just certain features...kinda sucks:(

Ok...first off, if he's willing to install the timer part, the hardest part is done. There is no RPM wire with the Blitz (at least I don't think there is...what model did you get?). If you got the DCTT 2 with the built in boost gauge, then there is no RPM wire (can't say for the other models). I put up some pretty detailed instructions (the boost gauge tubing is just that, a tube that connects to the short tube on the timer brain, and taps into a vacuum line from the intake manifold). Take a look at the link to the instructions in my signature...there's even pictures. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I'm sure that Greg's (AGR#7)way of connecting the wires with the 3M clips would be much easier than soldering (and probably cleaner too). Good luck.

I have the DCTT 2...I don't know enough to install it, maybe I could teach myself..kinda scared to solder stuff though (what are these 3m clips). I think the guy at the shop was used to doing ones with a harness, just plug and play types i guess. I even showed him your thread on the install, but he still didn't want to try it...
I found a guy who races locally and works at a real shop where they work on rx-7's and stuff. He said they could do it the right way, only problem is, is the shop is like an hour a way..bad, but wanna get it done right

Thanks for the help

Here is the post farther up this thread that deals the the 3M clips (in italics)

Ok, so this new shop that was going to put my Blitz TT in doesn't want to now..:wtf:.. The guy made me feel like i was wierd for wanting to have a turbo timer on a protege..and he was like "we usually work on race cars, blah blah blah.. And I was like well, I want to save my turbo from getting fried..He gave me the impression like I didn't need a turbo timer..Anyway, he was just being lame, like my MSP wasnt worthy of his race shop.

So the search goes on...:bs:
