(glare) I got to thinking the other day, my goal is to put the hiboost turbo kit in my pro5 this next spring, forged internals and all that, but then i got to thinking instead of worrying about hurting my car, maybe i should just find a nice mazdaspeed and trade the Pro5 in for that???

Whats the Stock hp of a speed...??

Would It be better and safer to just buy a speed instead of the turbo?

Any Young guys have insurance prices for me, when i was looking for a new car, anything that was known to street racing was going to make my insurance go sky high...anybody know how much it would go up?

Lets here Any and All Suggestions, concerns, complaints, opinions, Etc...THANKS

lol, I wish too. But to answer your question, if you really want to go turbo go with the MSP, your gonna spend just as much more money installing a turbo and internals and repairing things if you go the P5 route, and if your P5 is an auto then deff go with the MSP.

Ive heard the insurance on the MSP isnt as much as it would be on other turboed vehicles. Mine with 2 wrecks and under 21 is about $180/month.

Thats not bad at all for insurance, i pay $120 a month for my Pro5, but when first thought about buying a new car, i looked at a couple RSX's, integra's, Golf gti's...any of those cars would make my insurance go to like $225, thats y i went with the pro5, plus i get tired of the same ol honda's etc driving around, i wanted something different.

I was thinking, by time i save up the $5000 for the turbo, i could just sell my Pro5, and put like 3000 down and then have 2000 to put lil mods into the speed, haha. plus a local owns The Banana Of Fury...might try to buy his.

Yeah, that sounds like a better plan.

I just turboed my Protege5, and it's the best thing I've done. I made sure I got all the goodies for it, too (CAI, hard pipe, upgraded SMIC, Protegegarage IM, GT28R, Vibrant 3" exhaust). I also had a LSD installed to make sure all the power gets to the ground.

I love my wagon, and I don't think I'd be happy with a sedan after having it for 4 years.

Plus, a wagon is a great sleeper as opposed to a car with a big wing.

Yeah...I dont have a big wing though lol, if u get a MSP ill trade u wings:) I guess if you know what your doing and do it right then putting a turbo in your P5 is ok...just do it right the first time.

How much diference does a turbo @ 5psi really make? Ive never ridden or drove a MSP or any other turboed car, im sure its nice tho.

How much did you spend for the turbo set? How quick can your car go with the turbo?

How much did I spend? Too much. I also have a Microtech and a FS-ZE cam that I haven't installed. Anothe big cost item was the GT28R turbo.

How quick is it? I haven't been on a dyno or the strip yet. AT 7psi most people I talk to are guessing I'm between 200 and 220 whp.

id rather just turbo my Pro5, cause i do like the sleeper look, and you dont see many turbod 5's, well at least around here. I just dont wanna mess up my car by going the turbo route, thats y i thought bout a speed, i do wanna see that 225hp with the hiboost kit, I dont think I will be able to save up all the money for the turbo, instead i think im going to try to save up like 2000 or so, and try to take out a personal loan for the difference or put 2000 down on a personal loan and do it all,

Forged Internals=$1300
Hiboost turbo kit=$3800
New Clutch=$350
Install Price= ??? Probably Too Much

225whp in my Pro5= Priceless

haha, do those prices sound right, anything else i should worry about???

Get the MS3 260 hp from the factory w/ warranty = Now thats Priceless !

my only 2 options are turbo mine or buy a speed, although those are sweet, i just love the look of the protege's more then the 3's.

i think what i should do is, save up and buy the hiboost built block for 3200, then save up and buy the hiboost turbo for 3800, put the 2 together and see what i can come up with, the chances of all this really happening, not well, im young and tend to have trouble saving, if i get approved for the loan when it comes time, i will be turboing the pro5, otherwise i might sell it and put 3000 down on a 03.5 msp. i really love my pro5, i just want to have some muscle under the hood, my goal is maybe 250-300hp in 2-3 yrs, and to Win Ride Of the month within those 3 years. plus have the car as a daily driver...(glare)

Check out the the TSI extreme turbo kits, I'm ordering mine next month, even though it will be 3 months before I get home to install it. Its 2900 and some change from prostreetonline.com. Haven't had any experience with TSI before but it looks like a solid product.

STAY AWAY FROM THAT KIT...my 3yr old son can make a better kit.....if it was worth anything members would be running it.....
