TUrbo PR5's, S-AFC

The point I think turboge is getting at is that since it is not hooked up entirely, it is not hooked up correctly. Therefore it is not doing everything the S-AFC is advertised to do.

It does not work on the Protege, which has been proven time and time again. It has already been shown that certain functions work on the S-AFC with a Protege ECU, but not all of them.

For some of us on the board, if it can't do everything it is intended to do, it does not work, and not a viable option to do what people want when it comes to running a motor...

So, yes it "works", but not completely and how it is advertised to work.

turboge,
The shops phone number is listed for reference to my claims. Maybe adjusting the fuel correction on the s-afc and the a/f gauge cooberating the change along with the egt temps lower than usual was just a big stroke of luck. That stated luck has transpired now for a few days. My egt temps before adjusting the s-afc were quite abormal(HOT). Since the temps fell dramatically after adjusting I assumed it was working. I'll be the first to admit I don't know everything, and I had doubts myself since for almost 6 months my temps were kind of hot(that was with the rough tuning of the shop) not to mention the weather change increased the heat of the egt. I would simply state giving the aforementioned information that it works. If that does not give me the authority because I did not hook it up myself, I apologize. And yes I do have a POS FMU. BTW my POS ECU doesn't even register with an OBD-2 computer. So yes my s**** got issues, but the fact that this damn thing works is not one of them.

EGT respond to slowly to show some lean conditiions.. They are only useful when tuning at WOT and even then how do you know what to compare temps with?? what kind of temps were your getting before, and now??? where is the EGT probe mounted??

the probe is mounted in the exhaust manifold. My temps before adjusting were almost 1500 degrees. If I really pushed it, I could of probably buried the needle at 1600. After the adjustments, It would get no hotter than 1400 degrees and that was pushing it all the way in 5th gear. That tends to make me think that it worked. I know guys who only use egt's to monitor there a/f. I thought that was kind of whacked, but the egt will respond immediately to lean conditions.

talk to the shop and see if you can get a wiring diagram or how they wired it up . and then post it.

the only reason i say that is it might be easier on you since people are questioning since people have tried and couldnt get it to work.

yeah cause ive heard about a few who have done it, its just tricking the voltage, its easy. there is a way to do anything.

Diagrams are on the way. One of my co-workers bought the book on ecu pin points for every function on the pr5's and speed's. That's where we got the pins to hook this thing up. Forgive me on delays, I'm not technologically savvy in my ways. I have to borrow stuff to get this done, I'll take digital pics of the ecu pinpoints in the manual, but as for in my car's ecu, kind of a tight spot to take a pic. check back in a few days.

Oh so its not the blue screen one? Oh and tuning without a dyno or experience can equal a blown motor very quickly. All I know is I have the blue screem one and if you hook it up to all the correct pinouts the car will not start. Wasn't Perfworks supposed to be solving this problem?

If you would do us all a favor and check two things (although you probably already have) just for mine and others sake. Pull your plugs and tell us what they look like. Also swing around to the back of your car and tell us what your exhaust tip looks like. Those are the two BEST ways to tell if you are running rich or lean.

We have been through this all before. The Apexi is supposed to alter the fuel maps that the ECU gives out. The device may turn on and display all the right numbers and show you that it is sensing something, but it isn't modifing anything. This shop might have found a way to get it to work, but I think if they did they would be a little more eager to let people know. There are at least 1000 people on here that would like to get it to work. If I was a shop owner I would be advertising the hell out of this.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but...
You DONT have it hooked up to adjust Airflow Voltage?
You have it wired to manipulate the O2 reading?
We got the AFCII to work but we havent tried the original AFC. Reason being it is discontinued.
So start with answering the above questions and we can find out what your doing.
The I will elaborate

 I feel so retarded. I never even thought of that. Thats such an obvious solution. Kinda risky but beautiful non-the-less.
NOT the right solution. That One volt resolution along with a narrow band sensor like the one stock is not going to be good at all. It is a butcher job.

What kind of butcher job are we talking about here?

New York strip, filet, ground round? What?
