Turbo P5?

Hey, I'd like to add a turbo to my P5 in the future, but I don't want to have any problems with my car. I'd like it to function like an MSP, but maybe with a little more power. I would get a turbo timer to take care of the turbo but other than that, I don't want to have to worry about blowing my engine or anything. I'm looking at the HiBoost kit $4000 (www.hiboost.com) and the Wagner Motorsports kit $3200 (www.wagnermotorsports.net). I'd like to get a complete kit so I don't have to worry about parts not working together. What do you guys think? Oh, and I have a manual.

Hi boost is gonna give you a little more power I think, but Wagners a great kit for the price too. It's basically a little less power for an $800 difference. Personally, I'll be going with either total custom setup or hiboost when I turbo mine.

anyone else here see a problem? ;)

my kit should be here next friday assuming jamie gets his turbo off his car this weekend :)

anyways, you should be good with either kit because both are reputable companies. i would save your money and buy a kit off someone, thats what i did.

NOT to sounds like a dick or something but you dont seem to know anything about turbo'ed car.

turbo timer allows idle time so the bearing and feel line wouldn't coke'd up. It will not protect your engine from denotation, ping, back fire, etc

you can get a complete kit but i would highly recommend you to get a aem ems tunning system and have the car dyno tune.

if you just want little more boost, get n20 instead.

I know what a turbo timer does, I just mentioned it to make a point that I wanted to stay on the safe side (even protecting the turbo). Anyways, thanks for the advice so far. Basically, I'd like to have some extra power, but I don't want to worry about putting too much stress on the engine. I've looked into NO2, but it seems a little more risky and the cost, although much much cheaper in the beginning, can get expensive as time goes on because you need to keep refilling.

I looked at the essential speed turbos and they seem like a very nice kit. I have a few questions, though. What would $5000 in canadian be in USD? Also, what is the difference between and internally and an externally wastegated setup?

I suggest more research and not just info from this site....Nitrous is MUCH cheaper, makes very good power and puts less strain on a motor than a similar outputted turbo set-up. Nitrous is only one during useage, turbo is on whenever you load the engine.

What happend to your 350...(wedge)

Why not go with their stage 1 kit, non-intercooled. You'll save even more, just keep the boost below 6psi. If you drive like a normal sane human being, any turbo will be reliable. Driving habits play a huge role on how long your car will last.

[shameless plug]I think you guys need to buy my new HIboost kit in the for sale thread. [/shameless plug]
