So i was installing my CS downpipe yesterday and realized my motor was rocking at the joint where the motor mount mounts to the subframe. I checked and the two bolts were at proper torque. So my poly buching is worn out is this normal? and how can i fix it? the mount is maybe a little over a year old

it shouldnt be worn. i especially shouldn't be worn after a year. I know that you said they are at the proper torque but what is "proper torque?

also maybe that mount isnt the issue at all. I am almost willing to bet that you have a bad mount elsewhere. That poly mount can only do so much if the other mounts arent doing there jobs.

You cant say that its worn out just by moving your engine. Take it off the car and inspect it. (5 minutes)

If there is something wrong with the mount, we will take care of you.

Okay i will take the mount out and inspect tomorrow however i am 100 percent sure that is it you can watch the mount move where the bushing gets bolted to the subframe

i removed the mount today and took pictures.
Picture 1: when i pulled the mount out the pressed in metal sleeve fell right on my face

pic 2: you can see how the poly bushing is ovalized

pic 3: now to show how much room is between the metal sleeve and the bushing

Ken does run a really reputable and supportive business, albeit the shipping times.

The mount definitely looks worn down, but i'm just sorta confused on how that happened that way? I don't think anyone's had any failures otherwise right?

this is the first one reported to me. i have no problem replacing the unit for free. i'll take one failure out of hundreds over several of the "other" mounts having their two part design fail, thanks :)

customer had a bad bushing, let us know, and he's getting a new mount. end of story. seems cut and dry to me. everything else in this thread is extraneous unrelated banter. if a mod wants to come in a clean it up, thats up to them. as far as i'm concerned, my customer is getting what he needs right from us and TRZ and thats about as good a service as anyone can ask for.

So I guess back to my original question: How could something like that happen? What caused the bushing to loosen that way?

How many miles did you put on the mount before you noticed what happened? And did you swap any other the other mounts?

this was one of the earlier mounts. only thing that would cause this would be if the sleeve was not the exact right size or if the bushing were not snug to the sleeve to begin with. over time, this combined with normal wear would eventually cause what you see here. all the mounts i have here are extremely tight in relation to these two parts, so i'm not expecting this to be wide spread issue on old or new TRZ mounts.

I can clear this up real quick. And i dont want to point blame, but its obvious just by looking. That mount was either never tightened properly or loosened over time. It is clear the bushing didnt tear in any way what so ever. The ovaling and gap around the sleeve show that the mount was moving around inside the subframe. None the less PG/TRZ will replace it, cuz thats how we roll ! But some way, some how, that mount was loose.
