Im getting my ms3 sport in mid to late march. But, it has the Sirius Satellite radio option, which I dont want. If I was going to get satellite, it would be XM (personal reasons). Anyway, the dealer said they would contact Mazda when it was being assembled at the port and ask them not to install the Sirius radio. But, they couldnt guarantee I wouldnt get it. Now I think they were blowing smoke up my ass. Does anybody think I can get out of the Sirius radio option? I put a deposit on the car I January.

BTW, does anybody have any opinions on the Sat radio? Ive never had it, but it seems like the best way to go is handheld, that way you dont need multiple devices for the home and the office and car and the.

just stick tot oyur guns about not wanting it. if the car show up, amke them either take it out, or not charge you for it.

I was looking at the XM for the MLB package, is there a difference in the service/quality. Seems that the sound quality should be about the same, just a matter of programming.

Still would prefer not to have though (pissed)

That's better, go big business. Now I have to decide whether to battle my wife or the dealership for the money. That's a pretty simple choice.

Did you check the ohio section...we're having a meet in Columbus March 10th. If you get your car before then or you want to show up anyway theres a thread with the time and location. Or you could always PM me and I'll give it to you. Good luck with the car.

They can totally remove the sirius receiver at the dealership.... I mean they install the things. If they say they can't then they're just trying to steal your money. Worst case scenario is they remove the receiver and leave the wiring and then just charge you for that (since they'd have to disassemble most of the interior of the car in order to remove the wiring.

they can stop the install @ the port, your sales guy/sales manager just has to be ontop of things and call when the vehicle gets there. Weve removed port installed options from a car before they were even installed... so it is possible.

if they tell you they cant they are just trying to save themselves the trouble.

tell them youll only buy the car if it comes WITHOUT the satellite radio lol.

either way... XM and Sirius are going to sound the same (for quality anyways) only difference being programming. Yes they are talking about merging, but Im guessing its going to be atleast a year before thats finalized and probably another year to merge the actual programming... so youre not going to be listening to XSM for quite a while atleast...

(and thats assuming they can make it past the legal issues)

Yes, the merger sounds like trouble. They will have a tough time proving that it isn't a monopoly. Basically the FCC and/or FTC have to determine that the merged company would not have too much market power. They ruled against a merger of Directv and Dish, so it doesn't look good for XSM. It has something to do with a Herfendahl Index and barriers to entry.

Bigham, thanks for the advice. I've already put in a deposit on the car though, and now they probably think they have me over a barrel (which may be exactly right). God I hate this stealership, they won't even return my calls.

is the deposit refundable? any dealership that would keep a deposit is low in my books anyway.

also, Im not sure how large of a deposit you put down but you could ALWAYS back out (unless you signed a contract) so dont be afraid to use your leverage. the other side of it is the fact that the serious unit is about 500 which isnt bad... but with a 60 month note thats about an extra $10 a month give or take a dollar or two...

Its refundable but with restrictions. Technically, I think they could keep my deposit, but I don't think they would if I put up a fight on their showroom floor.

Seems like this is just a bad way to go about get Sat radio, but, then again, it is a kind of cool feature. And, I very much dislike the Sat antenna, a dull black plastic box (approx 1.5" X2.5" X .5") that sits on the roof.

I had to get it too. But I don't mind it. I also have XM and like Sirius a little bit more. They have more rock-type stations.

If I were you, I'd consider the convenience of having steering wheel controls. I'm a lazy-ass, so I love it.
