hey guys....i have a question.....i really dont know what to do with my setup for sub and speaker......i am goin to be running infinity 6953i 6x9 speakers and a 12 inch alpine s12 sub. aight...my dilemma comes in now...i have 2 amps
kenwood Kac 729s
stereo, mono or Tri-Way output
300 watts x 1 in bridged mode
150 watts x 2 at 2 ohms
80 Hz selectable low-pass crossover, 18 dB/octave
speaker-level inputs
4-way protection circuitry
or kenwood kac 846 <!--StartFragment --> 4-Channel Power Amplifier
<!--StartFragment -->
 • Bridgeable 2, 3 or 4 channel output
 • Max. power output 100W X 4 (4Q)
 • 50W x 4 at 4Q 14.4V (0.08% THD) RMS power output
 • 75W X 4 at 1Q 14.4V (0.8% THD) RMS power output
 • Tri-mode operation
 • Variable high/low pass filters (50-200Hz, 0.3-lkHz)
 • 3-way input mode selector (stereo / mono / L+R)
 • A + B/A channel input
 • DC-DC converter power supply
 • Variable input sensitivity (0.15 to 4V)
so yeah...i wanna be able to run both the speakers and the sub off one of those amps...cuz i dont wanna have 2 amps hooked up to my back seats(dont ask why)
so which would be the best?
tks Joey

Use the KAC 846 4-Channel Power Amplifier. Use channels 1,2 for the highs, and bridge channels 3,4 to the sub. That way you can set the crossovers properly.

So long as the sub is 4 ohms then I would use the 729. I would also use the 849 to power all the internal speakers, even the factory ones. You can always set the front channels gain a bit lower if the fronts can't take it but I would wager that they can take more then you think.

I would suggest getting a matching set of infinity front speakers though. Or even bridging the 4 channel to the front speakers once replaced.

Pretty much if you haven't already bought the 6x9's DON'T!!!! get some nice 6-1/2" components and make a small baffle and use them up front and amplify them and NOT the rears. Un;ess you are the type who likes to goto a concert and turn your back to the stage.

I'm with 1sty on this one. Two amps > one. Settle for the one you need first, but plan the install so that you do minimal upgrading once you get the money for the second. Of course...it's always easier to do it in one shot, but if you have to complete the process in phases, a little planning will go a long way.

If space is the only concern, there's plenty of under-seat room for amps. Hell I've got 1100w under my driver's side seat alone...
