I was amazed when I realized that the trunk lid on a 2018 Mazda 6 does not spring all the way open? Yes, you can pop the catch and release the trunk lid using the Keyfob switch. However, the Trunk Lid appears to be too heavy for the stock torsion bars to raise the lid. After seeing a rather simple and affordable modification on ebay I decided to perform the mod myself. After buying the spring kit and examining the best way to apply the spring (instructions were not specific) I finally figured out the best way to position the spring and was quite pleased to see that it works as advertised. Yes I did have to drill 1 small hole and attach a loop hook to the inside metal frame of the right rear fender but it was not hard to do at all. Once the right-side interior cover is replaced the entire spring assembly remains out of sight. The kit comes with (x2) springs (one for each side) but I did not find it necessary to use them both. One spring when positioned properly has plenty of tension to lift the trunk Lid. Now when I pop the trunk, it lifts all the way up, very handy when you have your hands full and need a hand!
