This is my step-daughter's car. I've just moved to rural Australia to finally be with my Aussie wife. Daughter has a 2005 Mazda 3 Maxx Sport. She would like to buy a newer car, and since I've just gotten here and need a car, I'm interested in taking over payments. However, it has an issue where it becomes very hard to start when the tank is below half full. Have not had a chance to look it over, don't have a factory manual, and not terribly good at diagnosing electrical issues. We're out in the country, no clue where the nearest Mazda dealer is, likely at least an hour drive. Local mechanic says he can't find anything.
I'm thinking perhaps it's an issue with the fuel pump. I know I don't have a lot of info to offer, but thought I'd see if anyone has any ideas if I'm on the right track, or if there's something else suspect. It gets good mileage, but with only 3 servos in town and the next closest stations 40 minutes away, I'm not terribly keen on a car that must be kept at half a tank or better.
Regards,
Jon
