I can't seem to find any real info on our transmission (on the web, haven't tried going to the dealer yet). What I mainly wish to know is this:

1. Are the insides the same as any other 5 speeds offered by mazda?

2. Is the tranny from the 1.3L overseas the same?
^If so:
-Are there other gearsets available? Either swappable inside the tranny or swap the whole tranny...
-Are there any LSD's available?

It'd be good to know but I think the gearing for our little motor would be horrible:
3. What other transmissions will bolt to our 1.5L?

From this thread I've gathered that the tranny code is F35M-R.

What I'm really wondering is if there is a JDM company producing LSDs that would fit in our trannies. And a huge long shot, if maybe a Mazda 3 tranny would bolt up. (Quaife has an LSD for the MSP3)

i think somehwere either on this forum or on the uk mazda 2 forum a guy has got a mazda 3 gearbox direct fit from the mazda 3's, 1.3's i think

Not sure if the tranny is the same between the two, but the first gen Mazda 3 was offered in some countries with the same 1.5L MZR ZY motor as what's in our cars. There may be some options along those lines.

Mazda 3 1.4/1.6 + Mazda 2 1.3/1.5 have the same tyranny with diffrences in the FGR and the 5th gear.
The 1.8 and bigger engines use the G35MR tranny.

The trannies that mazda offered, are different overseas. In the EU market, mazda 2 1.3 have 3.8 FGR and 1.5 have 4.105
The mazda 3 1.4/1.6 have 4.388 FGR with shorter 5th gear at 0.820

The F25 uses rods for the gear changing and F35 cables.
Although i dont know if there is any difference in the differential. There is a quite good possibility that they are the same.

Yea pretty pricey...but that 1st to 2nd rpm drop is just uncalled for!!

That's why you do a tune and redline at 7K!

Seriously, though, our engines are supposedly good for up to 7300 or so. The limiting factors are valvetrain (mostly springs) and piston speeds, and at 7k both are apparently fine. Andy Hollis is running a 7k redline (at one point it was 7250, dunno about now) and says it totally cures the 1-2 issue.

7000rpm real,( ~7200 on the dash) was not good for me. We had noise(maybe the valve springs?).
Now i'm down to 6880(~7100 on the dash).

So I have a slight problem with my mazda mx6 I would love
For anyone who know transmisions will help me id appericate it... Thanks
