Transmission fluid change...Lifetime? 2012 Mazda3 2.5L

Went for a oil change at valvoline today and the advised me that my transmission fluid was dirty and I should get a flush and fill I refused and called Mazda dealership they told me that Mazda says it’s a lifetime fluid it never needs fluid change our Mazda 3 has 82000 miles we bought brand new need any feed back on what we should do

This is true, but I will add..

There's no such thing as "lifetime" transmission fluid. Period. Mazda's only referring to the lifetime of the factory warranty on the car - past that, the owner is responsible for any repairs. Do a forum search and you will find people doing their own transmission fluid changes on their own intervals. I've seen a range of change intervals from owners of many different Mazda models ranging from 30k mi to 60k mi.

This has literally been elaborated to the moon and back. OP really needs to do some research on this first.

@quigley2003 in short, yes, you should change your fluid AND the trans filter at this mileage, absolutely. Please do some research and get back to us if you have more questions.

82000 is about the right time to change the fluid if it hasn't been changed, although some people would change it sooner.
