Trans Swap

Just wondering if any one knows whether a manual trans from a 1.6 or 1600 2002 protege will fit our protege 5 have a automatic and working on changing it to a manual.

I doubt that 1.6 tranny will bolt up to 2.0 block...I may be wrong though

I would think maybe the 1.8 tranny but not the 1.6. The Man might know for sure.

i wanna do it to, how much would something like that cost? i figure you may be able to sell the old auto for a couple hundred bucks

you guys may be better off trying to find a 2.0 donor car or in the junkyard or something.. not sure what all else would be involved? comparing the ATX models to the MTX models: is the ECU exactly the same? how about the throttle body? (coming from a dodge neon background, the automatics had a larger throttle body, which of course can be a great thing!) having another car available to guarantee you get all the parts would be a sweet thing

hmm, theres 2 different aem intakes, one for each tranny, so the master cylinder may be different

unless of course the AEM for the auto is simply "shorter" because it would hit the tranny? I don't know the difference between the two.. have you seen them both?

well this is a case where i must say, read TheMAN's FAQ, it for sure would have the part numbers for the two diffrent trannys.... so you could find out if it would work or not. probably not in my guesses.

eitherway, i woulda looked it up my self, but im lazy
