Does anyone know a good way to get power to the rear of the vehicle? I put on a curt hitch and the wiring kit for it i just have the power wire to connect and then it's good to go. Just wondering how to or where to run the power cable to. open to any suggestions. Need to get it wired by next thursday.

If you are in a hurry and don't need to DIY, U-Haul can do it for you.
If you have a 2009+ AWD, it is pre-wired to the cargo area.
All you need is a kit from Mazda to plug-n-play.
For 2008- model, you need to get a kit from e-trailer or eBay or Amazon to run wires all the way to the hood for power.
Tapping wires is not recommended due to high current draw.

If you buy a kit (I looked into it actually) from eTrailer.com, the instruction is clear enough.
As I recall, you go under chassis to the engine bay, go up to battery, and tap wires to battery thru a fuse and battery interceptors.
You don't want to hard wire to the battery...
Try etrailer.com. Very good site for trailer stuff.

Ok i will look there. Mine is an 08 and the instructions do say to go to the battery with the fuse they supply. I was just trying to find a spot to get from the interior to the exterior! and then to run it to the front. didn't know if anyone had done it to one and had any pointers.

thanks!!!!

For what it's worth I tapped into the power outlet hot wire that was already inside the rear of the vehicle. Never had an issue with that and did not have to run the hot wire all the way up to the battery.

I was thinking about doing that too would save a lot of fishing wires! Has anyone else done that?what is the amp capacity of the power outlets?
