Yep...

Had a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC, was going to turbo it, then went and test drove the MS3 and said "nevermind".

Now the proud owner of a 2008.5 Black Mica Mazdaspeed 3. I must say that this car is a blast to drive and I can't wait for the modding to begin.

Just thought I'd pop in and say "hey!". Pictures will be coming soon, I just bought it last night and spent the time driving instead of taking pics. ;)

Great purchase and welcome to the forums!

Just one question though...why did you decide to grab the MS3 and not the new cobalt SS turbo?

Thanks for the welcome!

Decided it was time for a change. Been driving domestics all my life, so I decided it was time for an import.

The aftermarket for MS3s is already older and with the Cobalt SS/Turbo I'd have to start again waiting for the aftermarket to catch up.

And I really like the look of the MS3. At first I didn't know that I could like a hatchback (never had one before), but this one really grew quickly on me. Especially in the black mica colour.

MS3 doenst have much of an aftermarket, even though its older.

it has more than other cars, hell now we can flash our ecu with cobb ap, we have multiple piggy back systems, over 5 companies that make FMIC systems, TMIC replacements, alot of exhaust systems , not to mention 3-4 options for DPs. while the market is not as big as a honda would be, the market is there and alot bigger than what the MSP had...

I think you made a wise choice...The MS3 has more than enough power IMO without help of the aftermarket. If you feel like you need some more umph in the future you'll find great gains with an exhaust/cai/upgraded IC/Motor Mounts...really makes the car great. Fairly simply upgrades that make a big difference. The cobalts still look cheap and ugly, even with the newer turbo engine. The MS3 must feel plush compared to your ex-ride and probably rides much nicer.

It definitely rides much nicer, and as far as the look and feel is concerned... I'll say this: In my opinion, domestic interiors suck. The only thing about the interior I liked better in my Cobalt was that I had the Recaro package. Those seats were nice.

As for the aftermarket, I've found some definite goodies for the MS3 that will be coming shortly. BOV, CAI, exhaust, and this or next winter a turbo upgrade. Going to enjoy the car a bit before I just jump into it.

do a CAI, BOV, and rear MM , you will be amazed at the differance.. as long as you are cruising and moving, the TMIC cools pretty good.. as soon as you stop for a lil bit though it does heatsoak.. but it cools really fast once you are moving again.
