Toyo Observe or Bridgestone Blizzak?

:
Mazda CX-9 GT
Getting ready for winter in Calgary, Canada, and need help deciding between the following two packages:

From Mazda dealership: Toyo Observe GO2 245/60R18 $1,812 all in (incl. black steel wheels, TPMS, balance and mount)

From Blaskin & Lane: Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 245/60R18 $2,091 all in (incl. black steel wheels, TPMS, balance and mount)

Been reading reviews of both tires on 1010tires and the net, and they both seem suited for winter in Calgary, except that the Toyos don't perform as well in wet snow and ice. Not as concerned about the price as I am about safety. I just want to go with the better tire.

Any opinions would be welcome. Thanks!

Why not go with tirerack.com?

For those price, you can get some ok looking wheels and blizzaks.....no steelies :)

I love blizzaks, been using them for ten yrs

Getting ready for winter also in Edmonton. Going with TOYO Observe GSi5. 245 /60R 18's. Went with the TOYO's because I have some gravel to drive on and I think the Blizzaks soft compound wouldn't do to well. If I didn't have the gravel I would probably go wit the Blizzaks. I heard the GO2's might be discountinued soon making it tough to find a replacement if you had trouble with one of them. I am going with some alloys instead of the heavy steel rims.

Sorry, I don't have alot of knowledge on good winter only tires.... but just wanted to tell you Alberta folks how lucky you are. The Canadian Rockies are a little slice of heaven. Some day maybe I can convice the wife to move.
