Too many cops

I was in Kissimmee for 2 weeks for some training and i just got back to Nebraska. Anyway I have never seen so many cops in my life. Every 5 min. we would see a cop. But Kissimmee seemed like a pretty cool place except that it was more conservative than i thought it would be, but i suppose it's because Disney is there. I did see a lot of nice Mazda's driving around though. I still don't know how you handle it with all of those cops around, sense of security/safety i suppose.

I don't live in FLA, but I suspect Kissimmee is somewhat crime-riddled like Charleston. Growing up in IL, I saw a hell of alot fewer officers than I do living in North Charleston, SC. Crime is prevalent here, and I am always happy to see cops.

I've a run-in or two w/police, but I also realize 99.9% of the time police are just doing their job. Even after a night in jail, I realized I would have not had an encounter with the justice system if I had just stayed in the bounds of the law. Of course there are bad apples in every profession, but like I said the more police in my area the better.

Just my opinion...

I just thought it was crazy seeing so many cops. Up here in Omaha i see a cop like maybe once a day (well besides the military police). And i when i was living in Washington i don't remember seeing that many cops either. I don't think that having a enough cops is a bad idea but then again i think too many is a bad thing.

Yeah, what I was saying was it is different living in low crime areas (Omaha, Southern Illinois, etc.). I rented an apartment for a couple of years in the 'hood in downtown Charleston and, honestly, I would get pissed when the police were not a visible presence.

When I'm home visiting my family in Springfield, IL though, I'd rather not see too many...there the focus changes from crime prevention to traffic law enforcement, so most people are trying to avoid officers rather than wishing for their presence.

Anyway, don't want you to think I was flaming. Glad you had fun in the FLA sun. (thumb)

you wanna see cops. come to the metro atlanta area. we have one cop for every citizen is seems like. even with all the cops we cant get s*** accomplished towards stopping crime. most of them sit on the sides of roads and wait for people to do something wrong in front of them. not very proactive in my opinion. i like seinfelds idea about making cops garbage men. we can't stop crime, we should atleast be clean.lol

I stopped in Atlanta for a day and did some site seeing on my way to Oman. It didn't see that many cops, but i wasn't driving around, I took the train everywhere. No offense to anyone but when I was in Atlanta I have never seen so many African-Americans before in a single area. But yeah i didn't see too many cops.

You know, I get the feeling that ATL traffic cops will only stop you for going too slow...the only place I have seen comparably fast drivers is LA. ATL Bypass=ATL Speedway (at least when it is not gridlock-LOL).

I visit westpalm/jupiter area often.. i cant stand driving because there are so many cops. I got a 186 ticket down there when i was 16.

Sorry for a possibly stupid question, but what is a 186 ticket?

OK...guess my question wasn't possibly stupid, but legitimatly stupid. :D

$186 didn't sound too bad, so I just assumed it was some arcane code for a certain kind of ticket. I'm thinking way too hard for this early in the morning.
