TomTom NB1 and Live Services

I have been back and forth with TomTom support on the matter of our vehicles which are equipped with navigation, having the capability of Live Services. The latest update from support is then need of an RDS receiver. I have looked on the MazdaUSA site and their documentation mentions the receiver but does not give a definitive answer if we really have one. I went on the TomTom site and checked and it does show that the NB1 has the receiver and supports live services. I am wondering if any others here have pursued this and to our friends in the UK, you do have the capability for live services correct?

I have a 2014 GT w/tech also and I followed the instructions in the separate MB1 manual for live services. I get traffic when I program a route. I think there's also a way to check traffic near your location without a route active, but haven't tried it yet.

Correct, when you are following a route you have put in, the traffic bar on the right hand of the screen then notifies you of the traffic and times within the congested areas. What I am referring to is the other live services like Fuel Prices, Weather, Traffic HD and a few others.

I don't know in the UK, but in Italy we have the whole thing running (HD traffic, weather, etc.). It's just a little bit expensive 59 per year...(pissed)

Indeed, you have it, and that is the case I am making to TomTom along with the evidence in the manual that was posted and their site which lists the NB1 as having the RDS receiver. I am currently waiting for their reply, this should be interesting if it works out. Here in the states it is 59.00 per year, not to bad.

If I'm understanding the differences between the US and European TomTom units, the European models have an internal SIM card for using the LIVE services, but the US models do not have the SIM card, so no LIVE services.

Where did you find the information about the lack of the sim card in our vehicles. TomTom did not say that, only the lack of RDS, that we do have.

There is a Sim card in the UK. Annual renewal for Live Services is 55.

In my case I can go to "Live Services" and somewhere in there is a bar chart that shows signal level as well as the serial number of the Sim Card. The network here is Vodafone.

We get Google, Local Search & Weather as well as Live traffic.

Procedure on getting to disable or enable the modem for live services countries and non live services countries. I checked mine and the modem was set to ON.

Here is the link to the Live Navigation Box in the UK: http://www.mazda.co.uk/buying-owning/accessories/mazda-cx-5/2011-11/navigation/KD8179EZX/

Juggling many things right now, hoping to get the commander switch working in my US vehicle then on to the live box and lastly the folding mirrors.
