Just a warning...NHRA guys chewed my ass out for 30 minutes on Saturday because the tank was mounted in the hatch without a firewall around it. They said that even windshield washer fluid is flammable and to be legal the tank should be vented to the outside and should have some sort of NHRA approved firewall/box built around it

They let me run it anyway because they don't have an "official" ruling yet, but just a heads-up...if you're running at an NHRA track you might want to tech without the methanol in there. They said running straight water would be fine...but any concentration of methanol would most likely be ruled to be illegal for track use.

I was pissed. The guy was acting like I had a 9 second drag car...asking me if I was going to wear a fire-resistant suit/gloves/etc. He said "what if you end up on your roof and the tank ruptures and catches fire...I was thinking "if I'm on my roof the last thing I'm going to be worried about is a tank of windshield washer fluid blowing up"

ahaha, things are getting so damn rediculous these days. The red tape is everywhere! He just wants his ass covered in case something bad were to happen. Oh well, did you at least run a good time?

You know how hard it is to make that stuff instantly combust? Its like Nitro methane, which in turn is like diesel fuel. It has to be atomised to burn much at all, or super hot. I cant take nitro methanol and put it on my hand and try and lite it. It will lite, but it almost doesnt even burn. Washer fluid, I dont think you would have anything to worry about with that.
