Its that time..This is something i know nothning about. So any help will be useful. PLEASE remember your talkin to a moron when it comes to tires.

depends on your budget and what you plan on doing with the car. if tires and grip mean the world to you, a set of Potenza S0-3's will do wonders for you (a shorter tire life will of course be the norm for tires that grip really well though).

I just got Nitto Nt Neo Gen's two hours ago. Freakin sweet tire. Its as if my car is riding on rails. I paid 110 a tire for them.

I've got a question to add...
I'm in need of new tires as well. I don't understand the trear rating and all that stuff.

What does that crap mean? I understand the tire size itself and how that works. I'm more concerned with the actual tire wear. These Potenza's are on their last leg, and I'm closing in on 12,000 miles. I don't want to have to replace tires this often.

On my Civic, I had Kuhmo Ecsta Supra 712's, then switched to Nitto NT 450's. I was happy with both, but I liked the Nitto's better. I can't recall one time on this board that I've heard someone talk about the Nitto's period(well, except for moose just now:)). Is there a reason why?
 
Well, I think Nitto 450's have always been good tires, but the neo gens are quite new from what I understand. However, they are supposed to be the latest rage in japan. Who knows. My stock dunlops made it 18K, which isn't horrible but I'll live with it.

Sorry though, I got no clue on the technicalities of the wear.
 
I checked up on yoko AVS and they sound like a sweet tire and from what has been said about them i think thats my choice..thanks for the info
 
See thats the problem with the dunlop sp9000, I love those tires, but the life on them isn't to good.... i'm just looking for good tires for everyday use in dry, rain and snow. I live up in northern WA, so I just get a mix of all weather. what are some good tires that would go the distance in these kinds of weather?
 
For those of you who are interested in Nitto Neogen's. There's a good deal going on the them at Groupbuycenter.com . The 215/40 17 are $105.00, 215/45 17 are $100.00, and the 205/40 17 are $95.00. Just giving you guys a heads up and shipping is free on these right now. For me though, I'll probably go for T1-S or PZero NERO for my next set of rubber. I'm not satisfied with my current Nitto 450's.
 
I still have the stock tires. 21,210 Miles on them last I looked. Rotated at 12,000. I'll be rotating them again soon. I still have plenty of tread left.

Just put AVS' on my car. Wet traction is improved over the already good Dunlop sports....
 
It won't...well...I wouldn't try it. (<--- in reference to the AVS in snow...) There are very few all-season Z or W rated tires...the link to discount tire direct above has some all-seasons, though. I highly recommend dedicated snow tires (that's what I did) if you have a long season or if you're trekking up into the mountains. If it just snows every once in a while, then all seasons should get you around (even some summer tires might...but the stock rubber on the MSP blows in the snow!)
 
What if you live in a dry land (California), and only go up to the mountain every once in a while..?
 
It'll depend on the depth and type of snow. If it's slushy/wet you should be ok with all seasons or even just summer tires...but hard packed or icy conditions or fluffy, deep snow(which packs under tire weight) and my bridgestone RE04s give it up faster than a virgin on her wedding night. You can probably grab an ultra cheap deal on snows right now, though...and you can just toss 'em on the night before going up there.
 
I drove in a good amount of snow with my original Dunlops (before the Yoko AVS') and I damn near soiled my pants, not to mention skidded right by the entrance to my work and down the hill. Yeah, real damn fun.
